Drive through the Pinnacle Desert does not require a four by four but I though this picture looked a lot cooler than our rented grey Kia sedan. Again these limestone monoliths scattered throughout the whole region making the Stonehenge mystery a simple work to ratio issue - whereas here it is a WTF issue.

Sunrise shot of Pinnacle@Duxton

Completed in 2009, the Pinnacle@Duxton stands out as an example of how HDB confronts the challenges of meeting housing needs in an urban setting. Its seven 50-storey (156 m) high towers rise as high as skyscrapers and are linked at the 26th and 50th levels by skybridges. It is the HDB’s first residential project with sky bridges connecting the towers.

Built on the site of Singapore’s oldest Housing Development Board (HDB) blocks, its design and construction both revitalises the area and commemorates its historical significance.

Pinnacles, Western Australia, scanned from slide film, taken 1995.

I recently went to Cervantes for the night to check out the Pinnacles. I've been there a few times before, but not since I've been interested in photography. I watched the sunset from the lookout, but the lack of clouds in the sky meant it wasn't the most spectacular. The pastel colours in the sky soon after were lovely though. Here's one of the Pinnacles during the transition between golden hour and blue hour.

Pinnacles National Park

Autumn has arrived here in Northern BC. This shot is of one of the pinnacles or hoodoos in Pinnacles Provincial Park. The pinnacles which were once part of an ancient lava flow have been formed since the end of the last ice age when soft basalt layers eroded away to leave a more resistant ash layers behind. The first overlook you see coming from Wall, SD is Pinnacles overlook. Pinnacles Overlook offers big views of Badlands National Park's iconic rock formations. From this prime vantage point, you'll find more spectacular views of rock formations and distant grasslands.

The rugged beauty of the Badlands draws visitors from around the world. These striking geologic deposits contain one of the world’s richest fossil beds. Ancient mammals such as the rhino, horse, and saber-toothed cat once roamed here. The park’s 244,000 acres protect an expanse of mixed-grass prairie where bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, and black-footed ferrets live today.

Beautiful fall morning at one of the most spectacular spots in Stowe, Vermont. As always, prints can be purchased here: www.vtscapes.com/Vermont-Scapes/i-r95PTPr/A. Thanks for watching!

A beautiful sunrise at the pinnacles National Park in California. Never imagined to be treated to a beauitful sunrise but scrambling at the end to find a frame was a good adventure

Was able to make to this spot literally a couple minutes before the sun was swallowed up by a huge cloud bank to the west...

The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements.

Located near the San Andreas fault, the pinnacles are part of the Neenach Volcano which erupted 23 million years ago. The park features unusual talus caves.

Peshastin Pinnacles State Park along Highway 2 is a favorite rockclimbers site, and one of the very first of the year with any flowers, though they be very small.

I didn't realize how long it would take the rising spring Milky Way to indeed rise above the Pinnacles - took about an hour longer than I expected on this rather windy night. BTW, I really like my latest flashlight with a spotlight capability - I could shoot it between the two closer pinnacles to light the ones farther away without blowing out the closer ones. Cool toy.

Boulder clay sea cliff pinnacle. Prudence prevails as the approaching arete is passable but the pinnacle not so. Sleeps with the fish springs to mind.

This will kick off my series of autumn pics ( yay! finally ). I took a day trip to the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway yesterday and took A LOT of pictures from the Craggy Garden Pinnacle area. This particular image was taken from the passenger seat of the car ( moving car no less haha ) as we were on the highway. I couldn't resist the autumn colors around the water. It's not the best, but you get the idea. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

This pretty little lake high in the Pinnacles is said to be a reservoir. I reached it via the Bear Gulch Cave trail, through the unusual cave formed by huge boulders that fell into the gulch. There is also non cave access through the Rim trail. The Park is located south of San Jose, California.

Trona Pinnacles in early morning light.

Every time I visit Death Valley I pass close enough to these formations to see them standing in the distance, a striking sight in this otherwise flat valley where there was once a large lake. (They are tufa towers, formed when the area was submerged.) From time to time I detour to photograph them, but they have been a tough subject. I made this photograph on another of those detours, stopping between Ridgecrest and Death Valley before sunrise. The light proved to be challenging, but I had a few moments of lovely side-light shortly after sunrise.

The photograph is a liberal interpretation of the scene. Obviously, the subject is not really monochromatic, but I chose that route because it seems more dramatic. By the use of filters (here in software, but the effect is the same as we got in the old days with glass filters) I have accentuated the contrast in the sky to produce the effect that I had in mind when I photographed here.

A nice shot of a section of Trona Pinnacles near Ridgecrest, CA. Earlier in the day there were no clouds at all but a whole bunch of these cirrus clouds started to form around sunset making compositions like this easier.
