Leia Pineapple Lily was given to us by a Dutch bulb merchant that comes to our store,
I planted 3 in 2013, forgot to removed them for the winter,
surprised when I saw 2 survived now those 2 bulbs I put them in flower pot, they got little stronger this year.
I planted the crown of a store bought pineapple and this is the result so far, probably almost two years later..
That's what we call very mild, extremely rainy weather when much colder weather is expected. It's the Pineapple Express coming at us straight from Hawaii. Seriously!
Sole looks out at day after day of nothing but rain.
The pineapple is indigenous to South America, where it has been cultivated for many centuries. The introduction of the pineapple to Europe in the 17th century made it a significant cultural icon of luxury. Since the 1820s, pineapple has been commercially grown in greenhouses and many tropical plantations. Further, it is the third most important tropical fruit in world production. In the 20th century, Hawaii was a dominant producer of pineapples, especially for the US; however, by 2016, Costa Rica, Brazil, and the Philippines accounted for nearly one-third of the world's production of pineapples.
The Pineapple has always amazed and inspired visitors. It was built in 1761 by the 4th Earl of Dunmore as a summerhouse where he could appreciate the views from his estate. At this time, pineapples were among Scotland’s most exotic foods.

The local markets of Rangamati are filled with seasonal fruits as soon as the fruit days come. The fruits are marketed outside of the district also.
Plenty of juicy sweet pineapple and jackfruit come in the market.A lot of seasonal fruits produced in the hills are transported by engine driven boats to various markets in the city including Samataghat, Municipal Truck Terminal Ghat.Unloaded the boats and sold in the local market and marketed outside the district by truck-minitruck.
Due to suitable climate and fertility of the soil, pineapple and jackfruit yield high in the hilly areas of Rangamati.
Of the pineapples that bore fruit most were about the size of a grapefruit. This one is about the size of a lemon.

Planted during Covid lockdown the pineapples are finally bearing fruit but is a race against the rabbits to see who gets to eat them. They are only about the size of a grapefruit but the plant takes up a lot of space with inhospitable spikes of foliage.
This plant gets its common name from the shape of the immature flower spike that looks like a pineapple.
Thank you everyone who visits. Special thanks for kind comments, awards and faves.
When exploring the Polynesian hotspots, be careful. You may stumble upon the hidden Tiki fight arena!
With the strong aroma of blood, sweat, and pineapples, there is no mistaking that this is a place of combat.
The hard packed, well trampled ground inside the ring of totems is a place of violence, bloodshed, and occasional karaoke.
And no ruffian is so feared as the Midnight Fighter! He even looks totally tiki!
So quench your throat with some papaya drink and wrap your knuckles for some singing and fighting!
Just hope your opponent isn't... THE MIDNIGHT FIGHTER!

BP 2024 Day 282:
This is the top of the same pineapple that I shot a couple weeks ago - but now it is flowering. The pineapple is still only about 3" in size plus the little top. The flowers will only last a couple more days then...In case you don't know, it's fairly easy to grow another pineapple, and keep adding more pineapples to your garden. When the fruit is ripe and we have picked it, we cut off or snap off the top right about the fruit part, then some people dry them out a couple of days, but I just put that top in water for a couple of weeks until it roots, then just stick it in the ground and keep it moist. That top then grows another pineapple and you can keep repeating the process. Of course you have to add fertilizer, have the proper well drained soil and lots of sunshine.

What Can I Bring?
Perfect for: Cookouts. Add a little luau to your Southern baked beans with pineapple.
Make and take: Assemble ingredients ahead of time, then warm in the oven or in a slow cooker before serving. They can be served warm or at room temperature.
Made famous by: Dennis Faulkner of Cumming, who says the addition of pineapple makes these beans an instant hit.
