SHRIEKS of the PINE TREE
The pine tree whistles violently afar
And day will turn to night
A few entangled boughs disintegrate
Rapped by winds suppressed
Now, no longer can I hold
A few passing times, and no longer am I Child
Although there was one thing from long before
That are now left unaccounted for
Life only postpones defeat
And we are further estranged from playground love
But know that there things that are not spoken
Before we finally surrender
by Chairil Anwar, 1949
Cooler weather equals the "return of the birds." I believe this to be a Pine Warbler. Please provide input on identification. Morgan County, Alabama - 2018
The old African American Masonic Temple, which was built between 1902 and 1904, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It was the tallest building in the city when it was built, and it still towers over the other buildings and nearby train traicks. Among the businesses housed here was the Unity Bank And Trust Company, which opened in 1902 and was Arkansas' first African American-owned bank.
The building is empty now, and was listed as one of Arkansas’ "Most Endangered Places" in 2015. But that designation also notes that the structure is in fairly good shape, all things considered, and that the owners hope to rennovate it into a mixed-use development. I hope the building can be saved, I would love to see what it looked like on the inside.
The pine cones are coming out on all the trees in Washington Park.
Like bursts of fireworks in the sky. That's what I thought of as I looked at this, both when I took it and especially after review on my computer.
I was using my son's exquisite Pentax FA Limited 31mm f1.8 lens. It's one of the world's best lenses for any camera system. I'm grateful to Chris, that he allows me to borrow it from time to time.
The early evening sun put a special glow of color on these.
Spring is busting out all over. Green is the dominant color, as the grass quickly grows high and leaves are broadening their reach for the sun. Soon the summer will bring the long days of shining sun, to bake the crops to full height (hopefully), and bring it's tanning rays to the sun seekers among us.
I love Spring.
Of all the seasons, it's by far my favorite, with Fall being a close runner up. Then again, Winter has it's icy beauty too. Summer, well, I'll give you the summer heat and humidity for a bit more of Spring or Fall, if you please.
Thank you pine tree, for the lovely display.
More winter birds are here! Photographed in the backyard area.

Lord Huron's song comes to mind:
...Deep into the night
With the moonlight as my guide...
...There was no one else in sight, just the endless frozen pines...
Facts: The name Siskin is derived from its sound or chirp. Thus, this bird’s common name is really “pine chirper.”

A shot from September 2014 that I hadn't yet uploaded. This is a pine sawfly larva that had just newly moulted on some heather in my garden.
From last year's trip in the Temagami area. It wasn't a very productive trip photography-wise due to the bugs and all the rain. Backcountry Temagami is still very lightly travelled.
This time of year, one doesn't often find this fellow with a clean face, but this morning I found him just after he'd arrived in the mountain ash; he had yet to squish his first berry.
