Last night's sunset at Clearwater Beach here in Florida was amazing!! In fact, I haven't seen a bad one since I've been here. We spent all day sunning, swimming, shooting...and this moment which lasted a wonderful amount of time was just the icing on the cake. Two more days until the long drive back to New York...

According to a line plotted on Google Earth, Pier 60 lies at a bearing of 279.5 degrees. According to an online sunset bearing calculator, the sunset angle should be 279.5 degrees on April 10. I'm going to try to shoot the sun setting under the pier on that night. We'll see if it works.

Shine Brightly for Christ
Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. 5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)
2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)
3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)
4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)
5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

There are an abundant amount of things I enjoy about this photo...
First the sunset. Secondly, the awesome pirate ship that I just now noticed... Third, the three birds on the roof. Fourth, the pelican on the post. Fifth, I can see my wife on the pier as a silhouette. Feel free to critique.

Clearwater Beach Spring Break from Above, Clearwater, Florida
Both of the shots I am posting tonight I have posted previously, but have redone after learning some new techniques. I think these are much better.

This was taken on an absolutely gorgeous overcast night. It was a little chilly and the clouds were cranking! It's a 20 second exposure which was shot at F22.
I did all of the post work in Photoshop CS5. It's mainly a few curves adjustments, some selective sharpening and a conversion in Silver Efex Pro 2 from Nik Software.
quick trip south last week..spent most of the time digging my toes into the sand. I experimented with using my B+W 110 filter along with B+W 1.8. This is the result after 16 stops and 100.1 seconds on a beautiful sunny morning
I took this under Pier 60 in Clearwater Florida. It's a 1 minute exposure taken in relatively broad daylight. Then, it was converted to black and white in Silver Efex Pro 2 and has some decent dodging and burning applie.

This pelican jumped into the picture when the fisherman hooked a fish. Then waited in anticipation, seeming to almost have a smile on its face. Then the fish went into the bucket and the expression changed.
