Made for a friend. Made of old South American Mahogany reclaimed from a door jamb removed from a house undergoing renovation. I don't know why someone would replace such a beautiful piece of wood, but alas they did and I turned it into picture frame stock. The glass is also reclaimed from discarded window sashes. Scraped cleaned and cut to shape it makes really fine glass. Its only other fate is the landfill. The only new materials are the backer paper, biscuits, glue, varnish, and the hanger.

I love reclaimed materials but love to make them beautiful (not really wild about rustic look) but I love to leave artful clues about the material's origins....The nail holes for example reveal the fact it is reused lumber . It came out really pretty and will last for many years.

Here are three pictures hung in my shop from ceiling-mounted rails. Note the two small pictures hanging one over the other on the left. The chains for the lower one go up behind the upper picture, then on up to the rail.

Souvenirs can be pictures

This is a fancy collage frame I made from vintage flower power parts, pearls, ab stone and new raw brass stampings.

. . . was a gift from my mom, who got it in a white elephant exchange at the school where she teaches. It's a picture frame that looks like a purse. And someone saw it and thought, "Yes! That's perfect for the white elephant at my school!"
