A fulgurite is rock created when lightning strikes the earth fusing the surrounding sand, soil, rock and minerals together into a tube shape.

This example came from the Mojave desert in California and measures roughly 55mm/2.2 long.

It is placed on top of a black laptop and lit from the bottom of the photo with a small Lume Cube.

Macro shot of choices, sony a6000, sigma 30mm, macrodiopter.

This wild pink flower is called Ragged Robin. I have a few of these little beauties growing in my yard.

Picked these Two for today's MacroMonday theme. The twisted glass icicles will go to the box now, until the next Christmas time ;)

Thank you for watching and Happy Macro Monday everyone!

Podía haberla titulado "El unicornio salvaje y rebelde del infierno" o algo así, por la forma, pero solo es una hoja rota, como tantas cosas que están rotas en esta vida...

I've missed the last couple of Macro Mondays challenges and thought I better try harder this week. Fortunately we have been having a massive clearout and I came across a few of my mother-in-laws old paperweights. The challenge for this coming Monday is called “Pick Two” and the rules are quite simple. They have created two lists of words, “List A” and a “List B” and placed 5 words in each list. You will select one word from List A and one word from List B and then take a macro image illustrating the combination of your two chosen words.

List A

1. Iridescent

2. Fuzzy

3. Twisted

4. Damaged

5. Speckled

List B

1. Glass

2. Toy

3. Candy

4. Plant

5. Abstract

I've picked "Twisted Glass". It's an old paperweight and it's scratched too. (and only 2.5 inches diameter). And makes a change from slippery grey slate and twisted trees.

For Macro Mondays: The flowers are 1/2 inch long. (It’s damaged because I didn’t water it enough and the flowers wilted.)

For the Macro Mondays group, on the subject of 'Pick Two' - my two words are, fairly obviously, 'RED' and 'PEN'...

This is - equally obviously - the tip of a red felt-tip marker pen...

A Macro Mondays submission on the topic "Pick two", in this case an adjective and noun from a given list. My two are "striped" and "insect". Not many insects around in Sydney at the moment, but this hoverfly fits the bill.

Small part of a wind ornament in a tree - twisted, speckled, and damaged from weather...it cuts an abstract looking line

These are yellow and gold quilled paper circles. Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.

This is part of a model of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. It is made of clear plastic, but the base is iridescent and in the right light this reflects up through the rest of the model tower.

Fluffy, twisted, toy abstract - my contribution to the MM challenge for 21/1/19, theme: Pick Two

I was sure I would be posting some kind of iridescent abstract for this but nothing was working then I saw some left over "props" I had for the white on white challenge and thought "they're fuzzy"
