Pomona, Ballarat Botanical Gardens. Thomas Stoddart, originally of Scotland, arrived in Australia in 1853, a miner in Ballarat's gold rush until 1861 after which he became a sharebroker. After a visit to Italy in 1882, he was so impressed with the sculpture he saw in Italian cities, he then purchased a series of statues which were unveiled and presented by him to the city in the 24th May, 1884.

Liam, this was one of your favorite spots in Oroville. That perfect mix of urban exploration, edginess, and hiking. Last time we came, you wanted to go through with the lights off. Halfway through, you suggested that I light our path with an occasional camera flash to give that "Quarantine" horror movie effect. Of course, you timed your screams perfectly, even suggesting that a creepy goat might appear with a flash and be gone the next. You had a way of turning any moment into an experience! I miss you buddy and will carry these memories wherever I go. (weekly theme: "Liam" | in memoriam)

"Day 11 (Thursday): Take a really colourful picture today. (hahaha bad luck if the sky's grey and it's raining :P)"

Well....by the time Ali and I headed off for the park, the sky was very grey. :( But at least it meant we were hopeful that the playpark would be empty, because it is very colourful. Unfortunately, it was crowded (why?!!), so I couldn't really take any pics. Damn!

so yeah, was giving up hope when I saw a patch of blue sky and some awesome clouds. :P I know, it's not really very colourful, but there's plenty of nice bluuuues. :P

I wanna hear about your near-death (or so I am calling it!) kayak surfing experience! x

Day 57/365 - Handwriting. Enhanced by the use of Noodler's Rachmaninoff ink in a Noodler's Ahab Flex fountain pen with a med/fine steel flex nib.

Maybe it's a cop-out, but I couldn't think of anything else for this one...

Day 364/365 - silver.

This chair was made by my friend Matt ... a talented metal craftsman.

Especially when ducks are concerned. ;)

"Day 5 (Friday): Photo theme for today: nature. Yes, that does mean you have to actually go outside. Even if it's raining."

I looked at this theme and thought, I've covered this theme two days ago when I went to the park and watched the ducks. But then I realised that you can never see the ducks too many times. ;)

Today is the start of the September weekend, so I dragged along Ali and Ems (my very understanding bro and sis!) to the park. We took all our old bread along to lure the ducks in. ;)

I was basically just testing out using manual focus on my camera because I love bokeh photos a lot, and wanted to try it out myself.

Hope you like this pic Sophsters, and do remember not to be lured in by free punch in the future!

PS It is a duck! ;)

Just for Fun Photo a Day Challenge - February 9

Day 9 - Plan

Planning our next trip; not too far off!

beginning the Photo-A-Day challenge for June.

(also, I should probably clean that mirror...)

Dunnstown is located on the flats below Mount Warrenheip about 12kms east of Ballarat. It was predominately settled by Irish in the 1850s. In its heyday Dunnstown boasted sawmills, a thriving township and a distillery and is named after Irish distillery owner, R. Dunn. Barley was grown for the distillery but when it closed production stopped. The Irish being Irish turned to what they knew best, potatoes. This is last remaining pub in Dunnstown - Shamrock Hotel.

Day 207/365 - upside down. I got muffin'. Just gonna treat you all to a view of my Smoky Mountain fudge. Clockwise from the top we have Watermelon, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Cherry and Creme Brûlée.

Day 359/365 - Santa.

It's right ahead of you!

Mouvement continuel, repères lumineux qui nous évitent de trop lever les yeux, corps dénaturés jamais au repos, pas de doute, on est bien dans le repère des Zombies...

The face of Queen Victoria ... a statue in Sturt Street, Ballarat, commemorating the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901). This is the work of Australian Sculptor Sir Bertam MacKennal (1863 - 1931).
