Nice day out with Fester the beetle. We drove about an hour north on the M9 to Blackford where the Phantoms hot rod club were holding their annual show.

This remains one of my favorite Holga photos that I've ever taken. I just got a better negative scanner where I can adjust the tonal range so I could properly capture this photograph. I was there in February; it was cold so there was no one around town, particularly no other tourists. I've always liked the light and shadows in this. I knew it had potential from the negative, and I even had it printed, but this is what I always intended it to look like.

An early glyos custom I did up to look like Phantom Limb from The Venture Bros cartoon. He's not actually floating, he's just held up by a pane of plastic behind him with the edges out of frame, makes for a cool effect.
I no longer need fear departing this mortal coil without having seen the rare, elusive and beautiful Cephalanthera austiniae.
Aircraft carrier-based and early land-based Phantoms had a shorter but more bulbous nose. Later land-based variants, such as this F-4F, have extended noses and cannons (in this case), cameras or sensors mounted underneath.
