Camosun Innovates worked with the B.C. Ministry of Health, Health Emergency Management BC, the BC Centre for Disease Control and regional health authorities to prototype and manufacture specialized trays to secure the COVID-19 vaccine vials for transport to where they are most needed. The team at Camosun Innovates also designed and manufactured the Camosun VI-grip to quickly lift and move vials.

Upon arrival in distribution centres, the vaccine vials need to be transferred from their original containers to boxes holding smaller quantities destined for individual care facilities, rural clinics, and remote communities. Because the vaccine must be kept at a stable temperature of 70 degrees below zero, each box needs to be filled in under three minutes, and the transport trays must also withstand these extreme conditions.

pfizer covid vaccine #1 completed

The first doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), with distribution being conducted in phases, Dec. 14. NMCSD and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (NHCP) were selected by the DOD's COVID Task Force based on recommendations from the military services and U.S. Coast Guard, to best support several criteria to include anticipated supply chain requirements, such as cold and bulk storage facilities; local population of at least 1,000 priority personnel across the military services; and sufficient medical personnel to administer vaccines and actively monitor vaccine recipients. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere. Pfizer Weekly BBQ at AL house

On March 26, 2021, I got the second dose of the Pfizer COVID vaccine on the SUNY Albany campus in Albany, New York, USA. The shots are given in a huge tent--a very well-run operation! This particular day, we had high wind advisories &, when I arrived for my appointment, I was told the site was closed & to return in 1 1/2 hours. My second visit, there were long lines because of the appointment back-ups. Even so, I waited outside in a masked, socially distanced line for only about 15 minutes, inside the tent for another 10-15 minutes before receiving my shot, & finally another 15 minutes, seated in the socially distanced observation room. My temperature was taken as I entered the tent & I felt very safe. I am thankful to have received this vaccine! According to the CDC, in two weeks, I can safely meet indoors, unmasked, with other vaccinated persons & even hug them--something I haven't been able to do for more than a year! I am really looking forward to that!

Fluorite from Ohio, USA.

A mineral is a naturally-occurring, solid, inorganic, crystalline substance having a fairly definite chemical composition and having fairly definite physical properties. At its simplest, a mineral is a naturally-occurring solid chemical. Currently, there are about 5400 named and described minerals - about 200 of them are common and about 20 of them are very common. Mineral classification is based on anion chemistry. Major categories of minerals are: elements, sulfides, oxides, halides, carbonates, sulfates, phosphates, and silicates.

The halides are the "salt minerals", and have one or more of the following anions: Cl-, F-, I-, Br-.

Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral (CaF2). The most diagnostic physical property of fluorite is its hardness (H≡4). Fluorite typically forms cubic crystals and, when broken, displays four cleavage planes (also quite diagnostic). When broken under controlled conditions, the broken pieces of fluorite form double pyramids. Fluorite is a good example of a mineral that can be any color. Common fluorite colors include clear, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and brown. The stereotypical color for fluorite is purple. Purple is the color fluorite "should be". A mineral collector doesn't have fluorite unless it's a purple fluorite (!).

Fluorite occurs in association with some active volcanoes. HF emitted from volcanoes can react with Ca-bearing rocks to form fluorite crystals. Many hydrothermal veins contain fluorite. Much fluorite also occurs in the southern Illinois area (Mississippi Valley-type deposits).

Geologic context: fluorite crystals from vug in dolostone of the Lockport Dolomite, Middle Silurian

Locality: Charles Pfizer & Son Quarry, just northwest of Gibsonburg, western Sandusky County, northwestern Ohio, USA

Half way there to seeing my daughter.

Four Seasons, four interior art glass walls are located at the cardinal points of the compass in this employee dining room. The walls are constructed of cast and cut slabs of glass that are assembled into blocks with the clean-cut edges exposed. This gives the glass a chiseled appearance which echoes the natural materials used throughout the space. The sun rises in the East/Spring wall, is brightest in the South/Summer wall, and sets in the West/Autumn wall. Each wall is 12′h x 11′w. 1993.

Just some 'shots' of an unpleasant self-administered needle I need to give myself every day.

Yeah, those are little diamond-shaped blue pills that say Pfizer on them. Like. say, Viagra. On a tie.
