Peter Hook, founding member of Joy Division and New Order is likely the reason I picked up the bass guitar when I was a teenager. That sound, his sound, there is nothing like it. And tonight, after nearly 40 years of listening to his albums, I finally got to see him play the songs that have been etched into my heart all these years. Pure joy, no division.

FAC 203, "Twelve Inches of New Order" was Factory promotional gift ruler issued in August 1987.

It listed the 12 New Order 12-inch singles from FACT 200 (Substance).

The ruler is actually 13 inches long; an extra 1/2 inch on either end. It was rumoured to be an edition of just 60 "samples" (for an intended run of 1000 to be integrated with the gatefold edition of "Substance"), but I think many more were actually made - I had three at one point!

Peter "Hooky" Hook (born February 13, 1956 in Salford, Lancashire) was the bass player for the British Post-Punk band Joy Division, and currently for the techno/rock band New Order.

Hook was a co-founder of Joy Division along with Bernard Sumner in the mid-70's. Together, they recruited vocalist Ian Curtis and drummer Stephen Morris to complete the quartet. The band reformed as New Order.

New Order is an English rock group formed in 1980 by the remaining members of Joy Division following the suicide of singer Ian Curtis.

Melding post-punk and electronic dance music, New Order became one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 1980s. New Order has often been cited by fans, critics and other musicians as a highly influential force in the alternative rock and dance music scenes over the past 25 years.

Current members include Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Peter Hook (bass, electronic drums), Stephen Morris (drums, synthesizers), and Phil Cunningham (guitars, synthesizers).
