1989. Autographed by Peter Hook in 1989; a local record shop in Manchester got him to sign a few hundred copies. FAC 273
I always loved Joy Division and following Ian Curtis' tragic death I thought New Order were just as good. My daughter has inherited this liking and we both went to see the bassist, Peter Hook talking about his life in the bands, about Ian Curtis and lots about the Hacienda, oh and he played some great music!
Letters sent to me from Factory Records with photos and FAC 229 amongst others (I ran Paradise - the new order fanzine from 1989-1998)
Getting to meet Peter Hook at the launch of his book 'Unknown Pleasures - Inside Joy Division'. I got to ask a question during the Q&A about what people thought about Ian Curtis' unique voice when they started off and it was interesting to hear his reaction. Criticism would have probably resulted in physical violence. He also wondered how he would have faired in the era of Simon Cowell.
He discusses how he dealt with Ian's suicide and it's aftermath here.
Read my New Order SFX '83 story.
