The guy at this table seemed annoyed at my being the "4th person" to ask if these were bend sensors. Can you blame me? Anyway, these were very cool. I could press the tip, of either of the left 2 sensors there (which were made of a very thin layer of something I didn't ask about) and watch the red and blue graph lines raise and lower on the monitor to the left of this image. I pressed smoothly and alternately harder and softer with both fingers and made the graphs dance in offset sine waves. It had a very fine resolution (seemingly far greater than 8-bit), no shivering or jumping, and according to Mr. Angsty, were quite durable, having been tested into the millions of presses, with only a very slight decrease in effectiveness, which is easily recalibrated for. They also had a chair loaded up with these things, through which were we treated to a rainbow display of one guy's buttocks pressures, akin to those seen in this buttocks pressures mapping, from the P.E.R.F.E.C.T. workstation. Oddly, the medical field is their biggest market, where they're used, for example, to test for things like blockages in implants.

Con la intervención de más de 50 personas, entre ellas varios ciudadanos colombianos, la destrucción de cuatro laboratorios de droga y la incautación de gran cantidad de insumos químicos, concluyó la operación integrada “Armagedón”, ejecutada hoy por las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía Nacional en la frontera tripartita con Colombia y Ecuador, en la provincia de Putumayo, región Loreto.
Los resultados de la acción militar policial fueron dados a conocer por el presidente de la República, Martín Vizcarra Cornejo, y los ministros de Defensa, José Huerta Torres, y del Interior, Mauro Medina Guimaraes, en la localidad fronteriza de Güeppí, el punto más septentrional del Perú.
"Desde que tomamos conocimiento de que en esta región de la selva peruana teníamos problemas de seguridad por incursiones de ciudadanos de Colombia y Ecuador, se determinó la necesidad de una intervención para ratificar la presencia del Estado. El día de ayer se declaró en Estado de Emergencia la provincia, para garantizar una correcta acción policial y militar", dijo el mandatario.
El jefe de Estado detalló que la operación se realizó con el apoyo de cinco helicópteros, tres aviones y una patrullera en el Río Putumayo, así como con representantes del Ministerio Público.
Operación exitosa
Por su parte, el ministro de Defensa, José Huerta Torres, detalló que la acción conjunta se inició a las 05:43 horas, en el marco del Plan de Operaciones “Armagedón”, puesto en ejecución con la participación de 373 miembros de las Fuerzas del Orden.
“La operación ha sido totalmente exitosa, puesto que hemos capturado a gran cantidad de personas vinculadas al tráfico ilícito de drogas; hemos incautado una serie de insumos químicos”, afirmó el ministro al tiempo de destacar el trabajo conjunto entre las Fuerzas Armadas y Policía Nacional.
“Es la primera vez que se hace una operación de esta envergadura en la frontera norte de nuestra patria, y seguiremos en este esfuerzo actuando siempre las Fuerzas Armadas y Policía Nacional en las competencias que cada una tiene en estos ilícitos”, enfatizó el ministro.
Huerta Torres añadió que por parte de las Fuerzas Armadas, tuvieron especial participación el Comando Operacional de la Amazonía y el Comando de Inteligencia y Operaciones Especiales Conjuntas (CIOEC), además de la Dirección Antidrogas de la Policía Nacional.
A su turno, el ministro del Interior, Mauro Medina, precisó que las intervenciones se realizaron en cuatro fincas cercanas a la laguna Pacora. “Se ha incautado cal, hojas de coca, 15 galones se sulfato de cocaína, 20 paquetes de marihuana, motores, entre otros. Además, dos menores se encuentran en custodia de la Policía”, indicó.

De Mensenrechtentulp 2017 is toegekend aan de Mexicaanse mensenrechtenverdedigster Graciela Pérez Rodríguez. Minister Zijlstra (Buitenlandse Zaken) reikte de prijs vrijdag 8 december, twee dagen voor de internationale dag van de mensenrechten, in Den Haag aan haar uit. De Mensenrechtentulp is een jaarlijkse prijs van de Nederlandse regering voor mensenrechtenverdedigers die zich op innovatieve wijze inzetten voor mensenrechten. Aan de prijs is een bronzen beeld en een bedrag van 100.000 euro verbonden om het mensenrechtenwerk van de winnaar uit te breiden.
Graciela Pérez Rodríguez komt op voor de rechten van familieleden van verdwenen personen in Mexico. Via haar werk probeert ze de terughoudendheid om deze zaken te bespreken, te doorbreken. De mensenrechtenverdedigster heeft zelf een verdwenen dochter, broer en drie neven. Graciela Pérez Rodríguez heeft zich als leek verdiept in forensische wetenschap en het Forensic Citizen Science mede opgericht. Dit nationaal collectief van familieleden van vermiste personen in verschillende staten van Mexico heeft zich ingezet voor het Mexicaanse Nationaal Register Verdwenen Personen en een DNA-databank door en voor burgers opgezet die het identificatieproces van gevonden slachtoffers ook in een later stadium nog mogelijk maakt.
Minister Zijlstra: ‘Ondanks de moeilijke omstandigheden waarin zij werkt, zet Graciela zich onverminderd in voor de zoektocht naar verdwenen personen in Mexico. Mensenrechtenverdedigers zoals Graciela zijn onmisbaar in de strijd voor een betere wereld. Alleen met druk van binnenuit is echte verandering mogelijk.’ Verdwijningen zijn een groot probleem in Mexico. Zo zijn er sinds begin dit jaar tot aan augustus al ruim 2.400 personen als vermist gerapporteerd. Het Mexicaanse Congres heeft half oktober een nieuwe wet tegen verdwijningen aangenomen, die onder meer voorziet in hogere gevangenisstraffen en een commissie om verdwenen personen te vinden. De Nederlandse regering ziet deze wet als een belangrijke stap voor het oplossen van het probleem.

Más de 500 personas participaron en Temuco del 1° Seminario ENAMA del año 2013, denominado "Tamü Amülein" (Estamos aquí, en mapudungun) y realizado en el Salón de Eventos del Hotel Dreams de Temuco.
El Seminario se dividió en dos bloques temáticos: Por la mañana, cinco destacados profesionales mapuche compartieron con el público asistente sus historias de vida. Expusieron en ENAMA el arquitecto Eliseo Huencho; el cantante lírico Miguel Angel Pellao; la trabajadora social Jovita Rapiman; la Presidenta del Colegio de Nutricionistas de Chile, Teresa Catrileo; y el cineasta y artista audiovisual mapuche, Francisco Huichaqueo, en un bloque moderado por el periodista y escritor Pedro Cayuqueo.
En la jornada de la tarde, otros cuatro expositores analizaron las implicancias y oportunidades del Convenio 169 en Chile. Expusieron el representante del Ministerio de Desarrollo Social, Matias Abogabir; la representante del Sistema de Naciones Unidas - OIT, Kirsten-Maria Schapira-Felderhoff; el representante de la Confederación de la Producción y el Comercio, Pablo Bobic Concha; y el abogado y Secretario General de la Corporación ENAMA, Richard Caifal Piutrin.
Cerró el Seminario la presentación artística del Tenor Pehuenche, Miguel Angel Pellao.
