Perennials in one of my gardens from last summer that i neglected to clean up once the first frost hit last September. The red in the background is a dogwood shrub.
This State Threatened Showy Goldenrod likes open habitat which, in the case of this powerline right of way, is kept open by mowing. Unfortunately, the mowers got to this site at the wrong time, but the Showy Goldenrod decided to still send up flowers despite the setback!
