Uploaded to flickr from iPhone app, then downloaded and re-uploaded. Not sure why the EXIF was lost, but that's my story. Slightly warmed in post processing.
Photo taken in December, I'm actually surprised this rose was able to keep its colour and shape this long...
Planted several years ago and not since, Grandpa Ott morning glories pop up every year in the garden. Enough flower and produce seeds, which survive the central Illinois winters, to hang around year after year. They look so nice I don't mind them winding around the air conditioner and cable TV wires that snake into the house.

Aunt Dora and Uncle Ernie visit Salvador Dali in downtown Buffalo New York ( 1951) and are talked into having their picture taken for a study of a new painting by Mr Dali.
he made many offers. all were flattering but none of them were accepted by me. he even reassured me that, if we had babies, he was the kind of guy who paid child support.
direct and non-deadbeat dad: priceless.
but the music was right on point. all the nola standards delivered with great confidence on the sidewalk in front of cafe du monde.

While some have a good study environment and complete computer set-ups, others have to double their effort and energy in order to reach the pinnacle of their academic endeavors with the rise of distance learning. Since the pandemic began, Philippines is one of the remaining five countries in the world that have not yet started face-to-face classes. According to UNICEF, almost 27 million Filipino students are missing a lot in enjoying their rights to learn. As soon as I saw this young boy scrolling on his phone while walking along the Maloro bridge with an envelope in his arm, that I suspect to be his printed learning materials as it quite looks similar with the ones my younger siblings have back at home, I immediately immortalized the moment. Reminding me about how we differ in levels of privileges.
Sempre que vejo plantas surgindo de rochas, penso na dificuldade que elas tiveram para brotar e se desenvolver em um suporte tão duro e aparentemente impenetrável. Morro da Conceição, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

"They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to seem 'em
Don't it always seem to go,
That you don't know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"
gotta love joni mitchell... :-)

In this world, there is nothing softer or thinner than water.
But to compel the hard and unyielding, it has no equal.
That the weak overcomes the strong, that the hard gives way to the gentle -- this everyone knows. Yet no one asks accordingly. - Lao Tze

The Persistence of Memory, Salvador Dalí, Mexico City, February 2018
.
Wandering around the streets of Mexico City one can chance on the fascinating and unexpected. So it was that in February 2018 I came upon a collection of Salvador Dalí’s surrealist sculpture installed in a small park near the Zocalo.
.
Perhaps the most prominent surrealist of the 20th century (certainly the most well-known,) Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, was born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. Dalí, a skilled draftsman whose skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters (including Raphael, Bronzino, Vermeer and Velázquez), is best known for his striking and bizarre images. His best-known work, “The Persistence of Memory,” a surrealistic image of soft, melting pocket watches, was completed in August 1931. Dalí's expansive repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, sometimes in collaboration with other renowned artists including Picasso, Miró, Buñuel and Man Ray.
.
Dalí, also known for indulging in unusual, grandiose behavior, dismayed his admirers and critics alike, as his attention-grabbing public actions overshadowed his artwork. Yet in a strange twist of irony, Dalí once said, “There is no way I’m going back to Mexico. I can’t stand to be in a country that is more surrealist than my paintings.”
.
On the morning of January 23, 1989, while listening to his favorite record of Tristan and Isolde, Dalí died of heart failure.

Last week, this was still a work-in-progress. It didn't have the ribbing, and I was lacking a sleeve. But with a little bit of persistence, it's a sweater. Warm and cozy. A bit on the big side . . . but a sweater nonetheless.
Two more in the comments . . . including the all the grey on the temples. Blogged here.
