Perhaps this hot tub wasn't the guys best idea.
Stuck indoors today with my daughter who was feeling unwell.
We decided to have a bit of fun with the camera.
Sometimes it's ok to play with your food ;)
Abandoned double-wide near Sublimity, Oregon. The exterior wasn't much to write home about, but the interior was like a filthy vintage time-capsule. I actually think my family had this same teapot in the 80's.
Perhaps the most magnificent, example of medieval Polish cathedral architecture, imbued inside with the rich artistic flair of Renaissance Europe.
Goðafoss.
Perhaps a bit of a cliche shot, but where better to try out some long exposures.

Hi there all my dear friends, so looooong that I haven't greet you all, miss you all so much. Want to say hi again to you with this sun rise view from Mount Bromo, East Java. You have to climb a zillion stairs to reach this height, but I guess the view was well worth it. Will try my best to catch up with all of your beautiful photos and my warmest wishes from Jakarta

It’s past Christmas, and perhaps many lights have faded… the winter is long and dark yet before the spring comes….
but there is light in the deep wood, if you are quiet… and patient.
There is magic that sparkles in the snow.
As I roam about SL, and SHOP! I sometimes find wonderful little things that are JUST PERFECT and I know exactly what to do with them.
And sometimes I find things that are just perfect… but I know they need something… to make them sing, to make them truly come alive. I love those maybe the most — the mix-and-match, the outfit, the look that is truly one-of-a-kind, because no one else thought to put those things together
I’d been playing with the beautiful Opal Ice skin from Fallen Gods for months… and the Snowflakes outfit from Caverna Obscura
It was truly the beautiful Lightbringer antlers from Spyralle that made me know I had the look I wanted. They include a HUD to set the jewel/light colours at the tips of the antlers, as well as options with or without the headpiece and headpiece texture. I couldn’t resist the opal, it goes so well with the skin. Add to that a beautiful body shimmer from Stargazer, and..
This is a new favourite…. and it has me almost wishing the snow stays for weeks and weeks and weeks.
Almost.

THE SILENCE OF SOLITUDE
In the silence of my solitude my mind is free to dream,
To contemplate the things that were, that are, and those that might have been.
While a life yet still to come which I have never seen seems tentative at best
Stirring up a future hope from which I never rest.
For memory is part of life and dreams of future speak,
But in the now my soul resides in a body strong and weak.
In my body works the weakest frailty of men and it may lay me low
To steal away the freedom we call life as we daily come and go.
When we do and say the things that make us what we are
Naked truth in action, unblemished or with scar.
Where we seek the touch of love's forgiving soft caress
The refuge of all lives set free of loneliness.
My mind can see so clearly in the still and rest of peace
The many deeds of men that daily never cease,
The good, the bad, the selfish and societal conformed.
But I must contemplate my life since the day that I was born.
For I am far from blameless in so many varied ways,
And shall be ever still until my dying days.
Even in my solitude with secrets I don't share
I need to know that somewhere close there's someone who does care.
I crave to feel that comfort of someone holding hands
Secure within the knowledge that there's nought I can't withstand.
Grateful for the one who sees me in my need, for we are all the same
When finally The Reaper comes to make his mournful claim.
Here in the silence of my solitude, my refuge and tormentor,
I must face myself alone without a friend or mentor.
No one can hear the words or set my spirit free,
No one can share the happiness no one but me, but me.
And shall I ever be allowed to open up my soul?
Perhaps I will upon the day that we are all made whole.
Here in my solitude I know love, anger and loss
As I draw from my wells of joy, and resent my failure's cost.
Reflection, fulfilment, and memories reside for me
Here in my safe place where unspoken words fly free.
And I must wait until the end of time for me
To know the sense of what it was to live reality.

The old Musil is slated to be razed some time after Thanks Giving this year. It has become a favorite subject of mine over the past several years, when I am staying in Marshall County, Kansas. On this evening during the 2016 Photo Safari. My wife, a good friend of ours and myself had our portrait taken in front of the barn shortly before I captured this image shortly after sundown. Being that this would be the last sunset photo I would ever get to make of this old beauty. I was thrilled with the sky that mother nature provided. I had the okay on this trip to access the property and took full advantage of it, photographing the barn from every angle. So you will see more of it in the weeks and months to come. Image made with a full frame Pentax K 1.

This captivating image showcases the breathtaking beauty of autumn in a residential area of San Jose, California. The photograph captures a tree-lined street where nature's artistry is on full display, creating a stunning tunnel of fall colors.
Majestic trees flank both sides of the street, their branches reaching across to form a natural archway. The foliage is a vibrant mix of russet, gold, and lingering green, illustrating the gradual transition of seasons. The interplay of sunlight filtering through the leaves creates a warm, dappled effect on the street below.
The road itself stretches invitingly into the distance, its vanishing point drawing the eye towards modest suburban homes barely visible through the autumnal curtain. Parked cars line both sides of the street, their presence a reminder of the lived-in nature of this picturesque neighborhood.
The scene is bathed in the golden light of late afternoon, enhancing the rich autumn palette and casting long shadows that add depth and texture to the composition. This lighting perfectly accentuates the seasonal transformation, making each leaf seem to glow with inner warmth.
This image encapsulates the unique charm of San Jose's residential areas, where the beauty of nature harmoniously coexists with urban living. It serves as a testament to the city's commitment to maintaining a green canopy, providing residents with a daily dose of natural splendor right outside their doors.
The photograph invites viewers to imagine themselves strolling down this enchanting street, perhaps hearing the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, and breathing in the crisp autumn air. It's a serene snapshot of suburban life in Silicon Valley, reminding us of the simple yet profound beauty that each changing season brings to our everyday surroundings.
I like it, although I appreciate opinion is divided. This angle any better?

P.S. Apologies to the 4 people who were subjected to that awful Lambo shot I momentarily posted.
Street art from, perhaps appropriately, the Graffiti Wall at Bondi Beach, Sydney. Artist unknown.
Not the most elaborate piece down there and, like most of the work, maybe a language I'm not in tune with - but the eye-catching combination of bold lines, palette and graphical design, very much appealed.

These well defined clouds were not dropping this morning. Perhaps rain clouds will follow as rain is finally forecast.
Always, always, always, there are people in my way when I try to photograph this door! I don't blame them, it's so lovely - but I do feel that it's MY door, and they should wait til I have done my thing!! What a whinger!!!!
What usually happens when it snows in Stow, is what we call Snowciability, or Stowciability - perhaps there isn't enough snow this time, or perhaps we are all rather jaded from Lockdowns and the wretched virus....
27th October.
A date I've made a note of ready for another visit this coming autumn.
I made two autumnal visits to the woodlands last year and this was the most vibrant and varied in colour, with lots of fresh greenery still remaining on the trees, contrasting with the golds and yellows. My second visit was on Nov 13th, more bright autumnal colour but a lot less green to act as a contrast and the canopy already beginning to thin, slightly losing the mystery of light and shade.
I suspect every autumn is slightly different due to our variable summers, but you can't go wrong between those two dates.
Kudzu isn't interested in the hay that I'd just dispensed to the goats. She wants pats, as she's the most affectionate of the seven goats at Belmont Audubon Habitat. She's on a climbing structure that was built as an Eagle Scout project. The various levels of hexagons can be rearranged in limitless ways.
This is the culmination of well over a year’s worth of work: I think I started this project a little after the UCS Republic Gunship was released. So it feels good to finally have this finished and show it off!
I strived to make an accurate, studless version of the ship which incorporated some of the discoloured panels like the UCS version. I used the reference material collected from Star Wars Episode 2, 3 and Battlefront II.
Over the course of this project, a few outstanding Gunships emerged in the LEGO Star Wars community, which was both inspiring and slightly disheartening as they set the bar for MOCs of this vehicle incredibly high! Bousker made an excellent Clone Wars version and you may see some similarities between mine and Jhae's. Though we came to the solution of using the grated cheese slopes independently, his design helped inform some of the internal structure and the bed of the troop compartment.
I also looked to atlasr's version for inspiration, which while digital and at a slightly larger scale than I was aiming for, is perhaps the most accurate LEGO version I’ve ever seen.
Massive thanks to all the dudes for their inspiration, encouragement, feedback, and numerous ideas which I stole, you know who you are!
Perhaps there is a moon shining
From somewhere, as though behind a hill---
just enough light to make out

"How do we know that to cling to life is not an error? Perhaps our fear of its end approaching is like forgetting our way and not knowing how to return home.....Someday will come a great awakening when we will know this life was like a dream..."

Perhaps one of my favourite images from this years trip to the Isle of Skye. Stinging sleeting snow storms passed through the glen as the sun came and went behind the building snow clouds.
A small A/V of the first day on the island can be viewed here.
Perhaps one of the greatest victories in railfanning is a well-timed hole in an otherwise cloudy sky revealing the sunshine.
Flurries were flying most of the day when an 86-car St Cloud local came out of Northtown.
As you can tell, the sucker hole lined up perfectly with the train's arrival. I wasn't originally going to set up in downtown Big Lake, but when I saw a hole in the clouds, I just had hope and went for it, so glad I did.
Leading the local on this day is BNSF 2240, a GP38-2R. What's fascinating about this unit is when it was repainted in the late 2000s to its current paint, the headlight was moved from the cab to the nose. Yet within the last couple of years, that was reversed when PTC was installed.
High-headlights are a weird fetish of mine when it comes to older BNSF power these days, I like it. In fact, the geep being a cab-mounted headlight is why I went out for it.
Anyway, another victory thanks to the sucker-hole magic I apparently possess. They call me sucker-hole king now, not sure I'd go that far, but I have been really blessed with good luck lately.

Perhaps my favourite from this day of gorgeous "photographer's" light. Again, I marvel at the wonderful position of that Scots Pine, standing apart from the others, and here also being separated by the light.
(Taken the day before my previous upload of "Castle Light", a few days ago.)
This is perhaps my favorite astro photo to date. There is some much happening here, with really interesting details throughout most of the frame. Not to overpower this very bright object, I used 30 second frames, ultimately stacking 200 of them! I took darks just to be safe, but the raw light frames were reltatively free of noise.
This is a view of the core of the Orion Nebula, or M42. It's a massive star-forming region some 1,344 light years away. Within it, lies newer stars around which the Hubble Space Telescope has spotted the formation of new planets. these are all being formed as gas and dust within the nebula collapses.
There are three different kinds of shocks in the Orion Nebula. Many are featured in Herbig–Haro objects:
- Bow shocks are stationary and are formed when two particle streams collide with each other. They are present near the hottest stars in the nebula where the stellar wind speed is estimated to be thousands of kilometers per second and in the outer parts of the nebula where the speeds are tens of kilometers per second. Bow shocks can also form at the front end of stellar jets when the jet hits interstellar particles.
- Jet-driven shocks are formed from jets of material sprouting off newborn T Tauri stars. These narrow streams are traveling at hundreds of kilometers per second, and become shocks when they encounter relatively stationary gases.
- Warped shocks appear bow-like to an observer. They are produced when a jet-driven shock encounters gas moving in a cross-current.
The interaction of the stellar wind with the surrounding cloud also forms "waves" which are believed to be due to the hydrodynamical Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. (!)

Perhaps a bit too pretty for some but a revisit to the Lune valley on Referendum Day prompted a shot from the Fairmile Road which sees a Virgin Voyager working the 11.43 London Euston - Glasgow (9S65) service, and running 27 minutes late as it happened.
Luckily the height of the Fairmile Road hides the worst excesses of the M6 motorway, and interesting too that despite being electrified the railway cuts a pretty small visual footprint in this stunning setting. As always good to see the pink and white foxgloves making an occasional stand in the rampant bracken.

Perhaps the most suprising thing i've seen during my last trip in North Korea in may 2010, is this: some sturgeons in a huge restaurant in central Pyongyang. My guides told me that Kim Jong il had decided to offer caviar to the people! After a pizzeria, a fast food, north koreans can now discover the taste of caviar.
It sounds like a joke, but i saw with my own eyes this restaurant!

In 2006 Outdoor Photographer's cover page showed a very similar photo and I have been enthralled with the desire to capture it for myself. I have one without the geese however, they add the small amount of nature that makes this shot my own.
The color in the trees was at it's peak and the sky was an ideal canvas of blue for me to paint on. This is my prize and the one shot I had hoped for. This is why I chose to go to the Tetons for the first week of October and nature rewarded me with a dazzling display of color. Perhaps the irony of this shot is that I am Canadian and the birds are actually Canadian Geese migrating south.
Anyone who thinks that landscape photography should be relegated to sunrise and sunset is missing out on the opportunities that present themselves. While we do want ideal light, it is rewarding as well that nature provides Autumn and it's colors.
Explore #24, thanks
A valiant attempt! I liked this pose even though it wasn’t the one I hoped to get. After this she decided to rush in to the bag & straight out again - so fast that my photo only showed blurred fur. Bella needs to practise her technique for playing with bags & I need to practise taking action shots! Happy Caturday.
