The Huong Pagoda (English: Perfume Pagoda, Vietnamese: Chùa Hương, Chinese: 香寺) is a vast complex of Buddhist temples and shrines built into the limestone Huong Tich mountains. It is the site of a religious festival which draws large numbers of pilgrims from across Vietnam.[1] The centre of the Huong Temple lies in Huong Son Commune, Mỹ Đức District, former Hà Tây Province (now Hanoi). The centre of this complex is the Perfume Temple, also known as Chua Trong (Inner Temple), located in Huong Tich Cave.

I bought this with a bunch of other designer brand perfumes that came together. It was from the SkyMall on the airplane so it was actually pretty cheap, mostly because the bottles are TINY. But I like this box the best. :D

Artur, who is incidentally, the most amazing husband in the world, not only remembered the fact that I've been wanting the new "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs which I talked about very briefly as I was flipping through a magazine weeks ago, but also remembered that the perfume is only available at Holt Renfrew, and surprised me with it on Saturday morning...some "I-have-to-go-to-the-grocery-store" trip!!!:) ~L

This weekend, I went onto a natural perfume making course. Its part of my staying at home and working holiday, of course. It was a brilliant weekend, dominated by perfume, home-made and commercial, and a blast of classical music.
The course was at Neal's yard Remedies and two hours into the course, I made my first ever perfume. it is a solid perfume using just three ingredients: Mandarin representing the top note, Rose for the middle, and Frankincense as a base. I had the idea on the underground the night before, that I wanted to make something I could call "Vicar ina Tutu". So, the frankincense was a no-brainer, someone called Rose is mentioned in the song, so in went the rose (also, because its quite a girly smell and goes with tutu), and I was left with a rather heady mothbally scent, so in went lots of mandarin. Make that a tangerine coloured tutu.
During the course of the day, I made three accords that I can play with at home, and a perfume, which I called "Interesting Drug". It's not completely unwearable, in fact, it pleasantly reminds me of Acqua di Parma, with a blast of fresh citrus, then nothing for a while, then a rather strange basenote of frankincense, tonka bean, vetivert and a bit of patchouli. After the course, I dragged Ray to Les Senteurs to buy some proper perfume.
