Smile on Saturday - Perfume

....and other ephemera!

"Smile on Saturday"

J'ai retrouvé sur la coiffeuse de notre chambre un flacon de parfum en verre rehaussé d'un couvercle en plastique translucide des plus originaux. #Macro #MacroMondays #Lid

This is one of three perfume bottles I bought at the Khan Al-Khalili (or Khan El-Khalili) in Cairo - one of the biggest souks or bazaars I've ever been to. Everywhere you turned there were shops and stalls selling absolutely everything - all the colours and smells were dazzling. And many traders offered tea while you contemplated your potential purchase.

7 Days With Flickr - Crazy Tuesday Theme: Perfume

This wonderful rose has a scent as lovely as its perfume.

A gift from a friend who likes beautiful smells and crafts!

I was there I looked at the world and the more I looked the saddest and you were my thoughts but I felt your scent in the air and in an instant I was transported to paradise .......

Un profumo è un gesto, una sensazione.

Un profumo, è la porta aperta sul meraviglioso.

Una questione di pelle, di contatto, di emozione.

La magia in diretta.

A perfume is a gesture, a sensation.

A perfume, it is the door open to the wonderful.

A matter of skin, of contact, of emotion.

Live magic.

(Victor & Rolf)

It never ceases to amaze me how things just appear in my cabinet with no rhyme or reason. The cabinet is full of stuff that has appeared over the years.

Perfume bottles appeared sometime in the late 90's.

I know it's a boring photo, but it came from a file I'm trying to clean out. Heaps of new photos soon.

The Perfume Museum in Marrakech guides visitors through the history of perfume and aromatherapy in Morocco and offers perfume making experiences.

This perfume bar exhibit is undated but is possibly from the early 20th century.

Happy Monochrome Thursday!

in fact, two of them, given to me by my sister

Preference for a background *as shot* with background vibrancy untouched? Or the next version (link in first comment)?

Full horizontal width about 5cm/2 inches. Three studio lights (still dark and raining).

Thanks for looking!

Have a nice day and thank you very much for your visits, comments and faves!

Well, it sounds better than glass beads and polymer clay, doesn't it? These things are all VERY tiny. While setting up this little scene I found myself taking a deep breath and counting to 10 many, many times. :)

The word perfume is used today to describe scented mixtures and is derived from the Latin word per fumus (lit. 'through smoke').

The world's first recorded chemist is a woman named Tapputi, a perfume maker whose existence was recorded on a 1200 BCE Cuneiform tablet in Babylonian Mesopotamia.. She held a powerful role in the Mesopotamian government and religion, as the overseer of the Mesopotamian Royal Palace.

Bottled aromas waiting to be unleashed.

This bottle I've had since the 70's. I use to love it and wear it and in the 80's got Fragrance Sensitivity. I get a headache, have trouble breathing, after exposure to strong perfumes, colognes, scented candles, diesel cars ahead of me I breath. So my bottle gets put way back in a bathroom shelf. Lots of scent free things in our house.

Macro Mondays theme: Bottle Cap

This is a Vintage Egyptian Perfume Bottle. It’s made of crystal and as you can see on the picture, it sparkles with different colors depending at which angle you look at the bottle, or as in this case the cap. It has a capacity of 3 ml. So, it is a rather small bottle. The crystal part of the cap measures 1” in length.

Happy Macro Monday!

Happy Easter Monday!

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

"Country Perfume" (aka manure) being spread on the neighbour's and our fields, using a drag-line. This method causes much less damage to the fields than would a heavy, possibly 20 Ton, manure spreader. The dual wheels also help spread the weight, again causing less damage to the field.
