Kecak is one of Balinese dances and considered the most popular performance. Created in 1930s and performed by many dancers, mostly male. Tens of bare-breasted men sit in a circle, around the flickering light of an oil lamp chandelier. They start dancing to the rhythmic sound of their own voices, who yell "cak" and raise their hands to the sky and bodies shaking in unison.
Kecak dance performances usually adopts the story of "Ramayana", the great epic of Hindu from India and was known since Treta Yuga [400 years before Christ]. The parts of the story setting is usually about the kidnapping of Princes Sita, until the killing of Meganada, Rahwana's son, in the battle.
Kecak dance also adopts the story of "Mahabharata" which the parts of the story setting is usually about the marriage of Arjuna with goddess Supraba in the Nirvana.
Oh you pretty, pretty things.
Growing up and finding your place in the world was once a procedure, easy, and defined.
A far cry from the ambiguous journeys of today.
In times of tribal past, a boy braves the night in a sacred cave, and seizes the next day as a man.
A girl begins to bleed, and is isolated in a hut. Returning days later as a woman.
But what are our maturity rites of today?
This theatrical experience explores lost youth through tales of love, friendship, desire and their aftermath. Go with some not so innocent child-like characters on the journey of ”growing up”, and discover how their imaginative world reveals real lives and dark events.
The passage of youth is a time when our sense of what the world has to offer expands with concepts of love, hate, death and lust. Enter the private, fantasy world of these characters and revel in their secrets.
It’s time to grow up.

Saw this woman carefully lay down her mat, adjust her dress and headscarf, assume the kneeling position, and then turned on the tears and wailing just like that. Wondrously fake.
