Chief of Police Frank Fowler speaks to residents about crime and gun violence statistics during a community dialogue organized by the brothers of Prince Hall Masonic Temple on Oct. 18. At the discussion, “Improving
Perceptions Between Police & The Community,” Fowler said that while crime in the city is down, shots fired and murder incidents are up. He said residents can help police by reporting criminal activity and by communicating constructively.
“I may be a lot of things,
but clairvoyant, I am not,” Fowler told the group.

Buy, Consume, Destroy!
Everywhere we look adverts are screaming at us! They look down at you from the heights of billboards and whisper when you read sponsored articles, they tap into every single aspect of your life until your head explodes after which it seems quite logical to join in with the rest of it and destroy consume and buy in untold quantities.
But it's okay. We don't have to follow a manual, that's the wonderful thing about being human!

Multimedia art duo Martin Mayer and Quirin Empl specialize in interior and exterior 3D video mapping - an art form that uses the architecture, shape and conditions of the room to project moving images, light or graphics on abstract surfaces, and thus creating an entirely new atmospheric space.
National Manufacturing Day, celebrated on the first Friday in October brings together the misconceptions, the public perception and the career pathways that make up what many would argue is the most vital industry to our country. More than anything, Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to bring modern manufacturing to life for the public
For National Manufacturing Day, the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) partnered with the Tacoma School District, Rainier Beach High School, OMAX Corporation, Cadence Aerospace – PMW Operations, Gensco and South Seattle College to offer tours, hands-on activities and presentations about all things manufacturing. Many of the students we invited were currently enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs such as aerospace science, engineering and manufacturing.
2017 was a unique year for AJAC’s Manufacturing Day initiatives, particularly for the next wave of Youth Apprenticeship cohorts we will launch this school year. Students from every background and social-economic status came together and learned what a day in the life is like for a manufacturer. From concept to design, to fabrication and machining. These are the components each company utilizes to make their products world renown.
At Cadence Aerospace – PMW Operations, students saw larger-than-life CNC machines cutting metal parts for Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and Airbus’s A320-Neo. They rode a 5-axis Cincinnati Milacron Gantry CNC machine as it spewed coolant over the airplane parts, cutting each part with precision. At Gensco, a company known for its fabrication of HVAC equipment, students were drawn to laser cutters and heavy sheet metal equipment to build commercial heating and ventilation systems we have in our very buildings. OMAX Corporation, the world leader in abrasive waterjet machining, demonstrated how 60,000 PSI of water can machine parts down to the thousands of an inch.
Throughout the three tours, students understood what it takes to become a journey-level machinist or fabricator. AJAC’s registered Youth Apprenticeship and Adult Apprenticeship programs brought to life the career pathways that gave them the freedom to earn while they learn, complete college-level classes and refrain from years of college debt.
The reality is not as obvious and simple as we like to think.
Some of the things that we accept as true and take at face value are notoriously wrong.
Scientists and philosophers have made every effort to change our common perceptions of it. The 10 examples below will show you what I mean.

“There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer.”
Happy World Photography day :)
This postcard was created for a FotoFest exhibition titled Mechanical Perception featuring photographic work by Mei-Mei Dillard, Eileen Maxson, Brian Piana, Soody Sharifi and Anderson Wrangle. These artists are also alumni from the University of Houston Photo/Digital Media program hence the lineup for this show. Mechanical Perception exhibition runs from September 5 – October 12, 2008 at the FotoFest Headquarters.
In addition to a postcard for the event, I also had to screenprint a poster that would be sold and distributed at the show through FotoFest. This was one of my first poster outside the usual Nameless Sound or rock music poster; this being one for a local art space. This was also the first poster that I created my new studio space, Box 13 ArtSpace.
This is the print sheet just hours returning from a press check Simon Printing where these postcards were being printed. This is the final product that I approved just before the entire job is run and then trimmed.
For years I paddled my sea lion on rivers , lakes, and the ocean .Here she sits at sun set on the car top carrier in Santa Fe ready to leave for the Pacific coast. The blue strap is the bow strap connected to the front bumper... keeps her from going airborne after 80 mph .....

on a beach in Sabah, Malaysia. Just did Mount kinabalu. 2 days up to a cold mountain top really creates a mood for sunny beaches :)
- Can prove to be a distraction if computer and internet privileges are abused.
- Noise level can be high. (Eg. From other uni students.)
- Other students can be a distraction. (Eg. Students playing DOTA through the uni server.)
- Computer labs can get to busy/full at times, which can make it an inappropriate study environment.

This was taken ages ago as you can see...
It's my 399th photo taken on my Canon 400D. :)
And if I remember correctly, this was taken at the natural reserve in Mai Po, HK.

My beautiful German Shepherd/Collie X named Ty. He is a 5 (turning 6 on October 1st) year old Advanced Obedience certified dog and he is my lifelong friend and love.
He has taught me so much already.
