Zicrona caerula (Blue shieldbug) is a beneficial bug as a natural enemy of a number of harmful beetles as the vine beetle, potato beetle etc. Its favorite hosts are Osyris alba, Rubus idaeus and some other forest plants. It is active from July onwards. The adult has a metalic blue color on elytra. The nymphs are red and black in color (see in picture). That in picture are on a Osyris alba fruit.

Recently bought this book, which is in French of course, but is an absolute corker of a book if you're into shieldbugs!! Was published end December 2015.

Pentatomidae includes some of the stink bugs and shield bugs. They are broad, shield-shaped bugs usually with 5-segmented antennae (hence the family name) and a large triangular scutellum. The head is relatively small. They can be sap suckers or predators of other insects. They often practice maternal care until the second stage of metamorphosis of the young.
