When I was driving to work this morning I came upon a scene that saddened me. Along my path there is a lovely old 1 and 1/2 storey house built in the saltbox style. According to the paperwork at the museum, this house was built sometime before 1819. Based on the style of the building, I would say it is closer to 1800 or earlier. For many years this house has sat unused. It is a building with great style and solid timber frame construction, but it was gutted and vacant.
When I turned the corner and saw the house I could immediately tell that someone was in the process of dismantling it. As someone who works to preserve heritage, this is always a saddening moment. Especially when the house is being demolished and I know that there are are people who would gladly purchase and reuse the frame. I immediately changed my morning plans and went to the house to try to get some documentary images. This image shows one of the pegged mortise and tenon joints in the front corner.

Murray gashed his "Driver's Rear" foot on something on Monday. He was in bad shape hissing at his leg with each step. To ad insult to injury they gave HIM a pink cast with purple hearts! 8) Stuck inside for a week and he hates it. He makes a comical THUMP...THUMP...THUMP as he walks around.
