Happy New Year and see you in 2018 :-)

Silver beach, Lake Michigan

Playing with me ... as I was playing with him !!

One of many cows that had escaped from their fenced area. They were wandering along the road for a mile or so from where they belong. They were loose in the area for half the week I was in the area.

There were some young calves among them and I know there is a good black bear population in this area as well with many sightings from Bird Photographers. I hope the farmer was able to round them up and no bears tried to attack the calves after I left.

The north coast of Gozo, along the salt pans. There are lots of holes in the sandstone caused by wind erosion.

As this American wigeon came in for a landing, his spreading wing feathers afforded a brief look at his eye. Taken at Commonwealth Lake.

Adore my little calico Scotchkin from FaMESHed Go! The animations in the companion kitty are absolutely adorable and the package even includes the kitty on a rumba (roomba) as a wanderer. The Pose Fair opens on July 1 and this adorable bento pose Mouni is one of the first I've decided to showcase. I love the.....

Goblin Valley State Park, Utah

Goblin Valley includes an area where soft sandstone has eroded into interesting shapes, somewhat resembling goblins. In some spots the rock formations are close together and produce a maze-like playground ideal for family explorations.

Many people think the park landscape has a surreal appearance. A Hollywood movie, Galaxy Quest, was filmed at Goblin Valley State Park because of its unearthly scenery.

Last night spotted one of the little kits which are getting so big so fast peeking around a tree looking toward us.

I was so incredibly fortunate to see a pair of Northern Pygmy Owls yesterday. First one and then a second one appeared and flew into this tiny nest hole.

Well I'll just take a peek at what they're doing!

This elusive character managed to evade our lenses for over an hour., this being the only 'half' opportunity for a shot

Never mind., it was better than nothing at all!

Somewhere in Nevada...

Squirrel quite happily thinking it is hidden.

This Northern Saw-whet Owl was one hard bird to find and get a shot. Way back in the thicket and lucky to have a little hole to shoot through. John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, Phila. PA.

Peek a Boo Slot Canyon at the Grand Staircase National Monument, one of the many scenic highlights you can experience as a hiker in the Hole in the Rock Road area near Escalante, Utah.

In the late morning you have here indirect light, which brings the otherwise brownish canyon walls to light.

What could be more fun than playing Peek-a-boo with a Canada Goose Gosling!! This little gosling hid behind it's mother only to poke it's head out once and a while, as it became accustomed to me it got a little braver and finally poked it's head out enough so I could take the shot!

Final Days are here to get your photo's in for the Challenge by 2/28!

With my camera on burst setting I tried to track this tiny Eastern Spinebill as it flitted between flower clusters. This time I got lucky. Eastern Spinebills are honeyeaters, they like brightly coloured flowers of both natives and non-natives that give them a good source of nectar. As they can even hover mid-air as they feed, they are Australia's answer to the Hummingbird, and their wings make a similar sound.

Honeyeaters like the Eastern Spinebill are important pollinators of many native plants. They also drink the nectar from introduced plants such as fuchsias, and help pollinate non-native plants as well.

Once an Eastern Spinebill likes an area, it will stay. They are not migratory birds, but instead largely like to stay in one place. I hope these little treasures will be permanent visitors to my garden.

Thanks for all the faves and kind comments!
