In 2017 veteran cycles were invited to participate in the London to Brighton run and the invitation was extended to Veteran Motorcycles. Here Neil Pearce leads to fellow cyclists up the steep hill.
Pneumatic tyres started to appear on bicycles from around 1890, proving a great boom to the industry, by increasing comfort and speed. Thus moving the cycling from a recreational activity enjoyed by a few enthusiasts into everday usage. This example from the Star Cycle Company of Wolverhampton has an upright sloping top tube, pnuematic trres a fixed wheel and a single spoon type brake .

Star was founded by the Lisle family in 1893 originally as Sharratt and Lisle to make bicycles, changing its name to Star Cycle Company in 1896. The first cars appeared in 1898

Dan joined the company in 2009 as a mechanic, keeping quiet about his degree in photography. His talents soon came to light and he now lives a double life split between building trikes and creating ICE promotional films and photographs. He can quite often be seen working off the effects of staring at a computer monitor for hours by leaping off and over things on his trials bike.
