Japan Day is a free Japanese cultural festival with family activities, food, contemporary and traditional entertainment and performances from Japan.
Past Japan Day guests included AKB48 (popular idol group), Cobu (famous urban-style taiko group), Jero (famous American enka singer) and Sonim (Jpop singer/actress) to name a few.

I was in Washington, DC last week for work, but it fortuitously overlapped with the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Wednesday was "peak bloom", only the Tidal Basin was fairly empty due to the rain.
