The Monument to the Texas National Guard, Veterans of the 36th Infantry, was erected on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol in 1959. The monument is hewn of Texas "Sunset Red" granite in the shape of the "T-Patch", the shoulder insignia of the 36th Infantry. The Division is credited with freeing Rheims, France, during World War I, and was the first American division to invade Europe during World War II.
The Texas Capitol, built in 1888, and the approximately 22 acres of surrounding landscaped grounds are sited on one of Austin's highest points, between the downtown commercial district and the University of Texas at Austin campus. A 1995-96 renovation of the historic Grounds returned the park-like setting to its 1888-1915 appearance.
Pictures from our usual visit to the pumpkin patch around this time every year. We always have a good time. This year was no exception.
The chassis chop. Rebuilding work includes bonding a plastic patch (just visible) under the entire floor pan, and supporting the side walls using plastic strip also. I had intended to use brass, but in the end just used the plastic - the inset picture shows that the aisle will still be acceptably wide in spite of the thicker side walls. The visible white panels on the side walls are in the same positions as the brass patches on the bodysides. Hopefully, when the chassis is slid into the bodyshell, these components will line up without creating a bump in the sides! The space in the offside panel is for a white metal fuel filler to be glued in.

I really really liked those shorts. I wouldn't let them die without a fight... so I used fabric adhesive and glued bandanas under all the holes. problem fixed.
Or at least it was until 10 washer loads later. Rats.
