I've been messing around with my new polaroid land camera a lot lately. It's taken me longer than usual to get used to this little camera. After messing up an entire roll of film, I got handle of pulling the film out of the camera.

I went to a pumpkin patch in Carnation, WA the other day. It was a beautiful fall day so I couldn't resist bring along the camera.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to carry the images around without messing them up. For this one, I folded the image back together with the negative and the emulsion left some marks on the image. Oh well, now I know!

A small patch reef just off shore named "The Rocks" contained a dozen large coral heads.

Patch & His Crew got off course and were beached with their treasures.

" To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the approbation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty, to give of one's self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived -

that is to have succeeded. "

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Went to The Pumpkin Patch in Redlands with my sister Elvia and took the girls with me! It was hot but they seem to have enjoyed themselves! ^_^

This is a patch that my husband recently made. He brought it home so that I could take a picture of it. I just have it laying on the back of his leather coat (It is not sewn down). He is the artist and digitizer at Custom Embroidery in Nashville, Tn.

The size of the patch is 12 1/2 x 11 inches. It has 195,000 stitches. I think he said it took about 7 hours to sew out.

My photo certainly does not do it justice!! It has a lot of shading in it which I don't think you can see very well in this photo.

This logo was created (not by my husband) for the American Prisoner(s) Of War (POW) and Missing In Action (MIA) of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was from November 1, 1955 - April 30, 1975.

He is supposed to sew this logo on several jackets and on material that will make a Harley Davidson Motorcycle seat.

Some small things collected the in a patch of bush quite close to home.

the patches and signs on a service dog aren't suggestions - they are absolute commands. were i in a wheelchair or had some other apparatus to aid me in daily life, you wouldn't randomly approach me and start touching it. my dog is cute, friendly, loving, and happy. she is also at work anytime she is wearing her jacket, which is any time we are not at home. feel free to ask me questions, but do not talk to my dog, do not reach out to my dog, do not make and hold eye contact with my dog. she is on the job, and cannot be disturbed. a lot of people's time, effort and money went into her selection and training, all of it charity work. you are the human in the encounter - read the signs, and obey. it will help my dog do her job, which helps me live my life, and you and i can agree that she is cute and friendly without interfering with her purpose and focus.

We went to a pumpkin patch today, and these were the three that we chose. Huge pumpkins. We also prize stems, as is apparent.

Bordered Patch (Chlosyne lacinia) was a new butterfly for me. I managed a single photo in the garden of our temporary TX hill country home-from-home. Apparently it manages to survive through the year further south towards the Mexican border and actually can be found through Central America down as far as Argentina.

This is a little family farm surrounded by development. They sell their produce direct to the public. The pumpkins can be chosen and picked right out of the field, which is why the pumpkin vines are quite beaten down. I took this photo a week ago --only two days after they opened the field to the public, and already almost one-half of the pumpkins were gone! (I photographed with a medium telephoto lens to stack up and concentrate what was left.) I saw many pumpkins larger than these being carted away. Next year, I'll try to plan ahead and be there on opening day.

Kind of a bad photo, but this was only the second time I've seen this species. Year bird and patch bird.

Emily the Weimaraner and Mrs Honeymarrow have been busy tending their vegetable patch - the turnips and carrots are in peak condition, and the pumpkins couldn't be plumper. Her namesake the marrow is top notch, and the peas couldn't be peasier. Not bad for a weimaraner.

while taking pictures down the Shanghai lanes this little guy came out and gave me a right telling off but in a kind of friendly way, once I bent down and started to take some pictures of him he retreated to his front door, but he was still very curious what this funny looking guy with a black box around his neck was doing on his patch. For sure I could have taken him home.
