Sychnant Pass leading to Dwygyfylchi

This is the view from the Imogene Pass Overlook. The overlook is a short distance from the top of Imogene. I believe it is higher than the pass, which is 13,114 feet high.

Down below from here is the MDH. I am also making a guess that this is Corkscrew Gulch, which is in the 13,000 foot range.

If you zoom into the center left of the photo you can see Corkscrew Gulch.

Hispar Pass (or Hispar La) (el. 5,128 m./16,824 ft.) is a high-altitude, non-technical mountain pass in the Karakoram Range in Pakistan.

At the pass, the Biafo Glacier (63 km. long) and Hispar Glacier (49 km long) meet to form the world's longest glacial traverse outside of the polar regions, 100 kilometers in length.

A typical summer severe thunderstorm in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I’m looking forward to chasing these storms in the Midwest in the next coming months with my friends at SkyScape.

Anyway, thanks for scrolling far enough to see my dumb little picture. If you are interested in seeing how I create my dumb little pictures you can head to www.ryandyar.com or check out the link in my profile. I have a new video that shows how I take crappy photos and make them much less crappy.

Passo di Giau is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d'Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the center of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau (2,574 m) and dell'Averau (2,647 m) from which you can easily reach the Monte Pore (2,405 m). Cimon della Pala, sometimes called Cimone and "The Matterhorn of the Dolomites", is the best-known peak of the Pale di San Martino group, in the Dolomites, northern Italy.

I pass this wetland often as it is beside the road that goes around my cottage lake. I have photographed parts several times and never been pleased with any of the photos. I passed it last week and it is now completely dried up. It looks like the beavers have decided to redirect or block the water. Since it no longer exists, I figured I would post an older photo of it.

PSP**** Prise SurPrise!! (D'en haut / From above)

Translated literally it means Black Mountain Pass.

A gravel road is the only way up/down the mountain pass and can get quite scary when it is raining and misty like it was two days before this shot. Visibility was almost zero, the road is narrow and a long drop if you go over the edge. Shot through the vehicle's window.

CN G884 rolls south at the prescribed 25mph over the Manchac Pass drawbridge behind the Wisconsin Central Heritage Unit. The 3069 was one of 5 paint schemes from predecessor railroads that Canadian National repainted as part of the 25th anniversary of the companies IPO. The spotless weather lent itself to a good follow of this guy south from Osyka siding up the line on the Mississippi border south towards their destination of Reserve. This shot is the cream of that crop for me. Manchac Pass is the must have shot along the southern end of the former Illinois Central mainline. The small pass connects Lake Maurepas with the much larger Lake Ponchatrain for an eventual drain into the Gulf of Mexico through the Rigolets Pass.

Thanks For looking and enjoy!

Gaub Pass (surroundings)

Storm Arwen hit the UK in Nov 21 causing much disruption but also many photo opportunities. Here, Winnats Pass in the High Peak district of Derbyshire.

In late November I decided to do some hiking winding my way through various trails crisscrossing Deception Pass State Park. I eventually reached this viewpoint and decided to stay to sunset, hiking out with head lamp. There is something about late fall/winter sunsets, especially when most of the day is cloudy and overcast, that make them seem more special to me!

Good news, my story about our backpacking adventures in the Canadian Rockies is now up on my website (link below). I will be delaying posting my gallery release because this week I will be flying back to Canada and will be photographing more images to hopefully add to what I currently have. In the meantime I’d like to share this photo with you, along with my story of our time in Canada and different locations spent along the way. In my story I share some tips on gear and apps that you can use, I found them quite valuable during our trip.

After several hours of traveling we arrived at a town named Invermere, there we set off for our steep, 4-mile (2600 elevation gain) climb to Jumbo Pass. The track rises from the forest below Bastille Mountain’s ramparts before the incredible panorama opens out across the Jumbo and Karnak Mountains. To one side of the mountains there is a stunning Horseshoe Glacier tumbling from the Cauldron Mountain right into the other. The only way I can describe the hike was as if you were constantly climbing up a set of stairs, loaded down with 43 pounds of camping and photography gear, what a workout! We decided to spend the night there, shooting both sunset and the sunrise with stunning fields of wildflowers sprawled against the rugged peaks. I hope you enjoy the photo as much as I have!

You pass in silence

barely seeing,

alley filled with light,

the day still, windless

cold, the absence

of desire, when he

appears, shopping

cart of treasures,

looking like someone

you knew: a friend

who lost his way, sad-

faced boy at the park,

his eyes gazing far off,

as if he had already left

his mortal body behind.
