If you are not French, it’s likely you haven’t ever heard the word “Saintonge”, and have no clue what it means. If you are French, it’s probably the same thing. Unless, that is, you are a fan of Romanesque, in which case you know that Saintonge, that small region of France centered around the town of Saintes (hence the name), not far from the Atlantic Ocean, just North of Bordeaux... features the highest density of Romanesque churches of all the country!
I had never visited that area of France, and so in the middle of October 2021, I took that long overdue trip and stayed two weeks in Saintes, driving left and right daily to photograph all the most significant Romanesque churches... and unfortunately leaving out many others, as they are so thick on the ground!
Let us take a quick break from Romanesque churches: as I said before, in the province of Saintonge one is never far from the Atlantic, and so of course I took at least one opportunity to go dip my feet (cheat: enclosed in high sailing rubber boots!) in the ocean one afternoon...
Yesterday I created this image for the group Macro Mondays. I thought the theme was "three of something", but – after spending some time scribbling with oil pastels on various types of surfaces, I discovered the theme was actually "three tiny objects." Are stripes objects? Hmmmm... I'm not sure how the admins over there would have judged my iffy choice. Anyway, after that realization, I changed direction and shot some nibs, as you'll see in the previous image.

Con motivo del centenario de la Estació del Nord de Valencia, el Tren de los 80 de la AAFM hizo el viaje hasta dicha estación. Al día siguiente, volvió hacía Madrid. A cargo de él, la 269.604 con el tren ya de regreso a su paso por Alginet. Un saludo a todos los presentes. 10-09-2017.
Después de verla salir tras el Mulhacén, ya un poco más alta y más de noche, la Luna llena se paseó al lado del castillo de Castro el Viejo, en Torreparedones.
Tomada a 1,8 km del castillo.
