This building was built in 1920-1923 by the architect Frédéric Bertrand (1869-1956). Dorel was founded in 1900, as the name on the façade recalls. Its main activity was the reproduction of drawings, architects' plans, estimates, specifications , etc. The Dorel brothers developed gelatin-based reproduction processes that made it possible to make photocopies ahead of their time. The company closed its doors in the 1970s.
The Grand Palais and its smaller twin the Petit Palais were built for the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900. They were designed by Charles Girault in a style that combines the neo-classical French Beaux-Arts with a touch of Art Nouveau.
