I was very impressed by how close these massive ships could get to the beaches. Had no idea they'd come up to where they did. Our ship was the one on the left.

I'm learning to drive, that's going okay, parking seems to be the issue :) Made some quick notes about parallel parking to remind me.
Januar 2025!

Identification marker for this parallel, starting at the Prime Meridian and heading eastwards, a circle of latitude 50 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane, that crosses Europe, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, North America (Canada), and the Atlantic Ocean, and also runs in Mainz through the Cathedral and Gutenberg Square – at this latitude the sun is visible for 16 hours, 22 minutes during the summer solstice and 8 hours, 4 minutes during the winter solstice – on June 21, the maximum altitude of the sun is 63.83 degrees, and on December 21 it is 16.17 degrees
To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!

Album Description –
Maaraue & Mechthildshausen, Germany – 03-05FEB2015:
Great crew, and an on-time Frankfurt arrival: that's very good!
Petra drove from her apartment in Schwalbach and picked me up at 1 p.m. Thursday (no arrival nap for me, so we could see something with the sun shining). We headed over the Rhine to Maaraue, the confluence of the Main and Rhine Rivers. We sat conversing by the Main shoreline on a bench until winter winds whipping near-freezing temperatures liked to froze us, then chatted along the riverwalk upstream to an observation tower near the middle bridge of the Mainz “Three Bridges Walk”, a 5-mile 2-hour circuit crossing the Main River once and Rhine River twice. (After the current grueling winter flight schedule ends & our crew arrives again early morning in Frankfurt, I plan to nap – and have daylight remaining to go on this Walk.)
Petra and I continued on our excursion into late afternoon, and she was looking forward to travelling the next day to Berlin to vacation with a friend. It was fun to invite Petra to go eat and to shop at the Domäne Mechthildshausen, an organic farm serving their own ingredients in their own restaurants, plus selling it in their shops.
(At the Domain I bought 2 loaves of bread: triple-rise sourdough, and spelt; on Sunday Joe and I brought these to share, for lunch and for the concert reception.)
Petra dropped me back off at the hotel on her way to stop by Fichteplatz to return the key to the Gerber family children from their parent’s now-vacated apartment.
I learned "a lot". When I got home, Friday night I went to bed and slept a healing 16 hours.
Saturday evening Joe and I went to a lovely Carolina Pro Musica early music concert, the next mid-morning and mid-afternoon to my brother John’s New Life Lutheran Church in New London, where I played flute with the organist. Joe and I ate Sunday lunch with my brother and his family, a super visit – time flying by fast – and we all went to the wonderful Cantamos choral concert, a great reception and fellowship following the standing ovation. Soli Deo Gloria!

This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2018 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 29th June 2018. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of its kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. This geographic feature is one of only a small number towns with this parallel configuration in all of Europe. One of the usual features of tonight's race was the recording breaking air temperatures experienced. During this week Ireland has experienced actual heatwave conditions. It is fair to say that temperatures tonight on the course were around mid 20 degrees Celsius. This weather will certainly live long in the memory of any one who participated tonight. The race has had 'good' weather and 'great' weather before but nothing on this scale.
The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. These roads offer a great contrast from the urban population of Kilcock which has grown as a satellite town of the greater Dublin area. The very hot summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Gaelscoil near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track. Running clubs and groups from all over Leinster and beyond were represented in the race tonight.

Geometric and parallel lines run across the Nazca Desert accompanying the spider, monkey, spaceman etc... I just loved the moodiness of this landscape.

To avoid fighting two stags will pose and parade, trying to impress each other by their size and power. Part of this is the parallel walk, a chance to get the measure of the challenger. Usually one will back down, but if not, "combat" commences!
