KAM WORKSHOPS 2015

ARTIFICIAL NATURES

Union Pacific resumed use of its industrial lead that parallels Material Avenue in the Rockford suburb of Loves Park in early 2016 to service the Cimco scrapyard on Windsor Road. It had been out of service since Kitzman’s Lumber closed in the same location in July of 2011. The track is in relatively rough condition with an undulating appearance.

The signals had to be restored at the intersection of Windsor and Material including digging out and reinstalling the electric connections.

UP reaches the half mile long lead to Cimco from its Kenosha Division or KD line that leaves the former C&NW Freeport line in downtown Rockford and heads north including a long section of street running and trackage shared with a streetcar on summer weekends. UP also services Rock Valley Oil & Chemical directly off the KD at Windsor, a few blocks east of Cimco.

To switch Cimco the UP crews use the spur to the former Borg-Warner clutch plant to move cars in and out of the Cimco spur. At one time other industries were serviced off this lead including Barber-Coleman.

A line of hopper cars sit parked on a siding beside the East Broad Top station in Rockhill, PA. I "think" these are some of the hoppers that the rail crew has been using to lay new ballast on the narrow gauge line that they have been refurbishing to running order since February of 2020. I could be wrong on that, but these look to be recently used, as opposed to many of the other hoppers around the yards that have rusty wheels. The fall foliage thankfully held on just long enough for our visit for an afternoon Pete Lerro photo charter in October of 2020.

Still hard to get used to this killer feature.

Snapped this photograph while I was walking outside during sixth pd. one fine day. Oh, I love TPT for giving me freedom to roam the school grounds...

The boundaries of Badlands National Park extend a lot farther west than the area around the Loop Road would have you think, and our random path toward Rapid City kept passing in and out of park territory. The ridge up ahead with the parallel south-facing faces is part of the national park. We've never seen any of this before.

And men at work.

Through a dirty window on a misty morning, but noticed the patterns as the tracks approach the platforms at Charing Cross. Imagine the driver making a last minute decision to swerve to the other platform.......

A crosseye stereo view taken today in Laramie, Wyoming! ACTUALLY, THIS ONE IS ARRANGED FOR PARALLEL VIEWING, BUT THE PSEUDO-STEREO EFFECT BY CROSSVIEWING IS STARTLING!

Parallel lines, when shot in perspective using wide apertures, often result in nice abstract photos. These are window blinds and they captured my attention because of their texture and the way they reflected the light.

In case of parallel viewing, the size of photograph is decided by the distance of eyes and we have to bear with a small photograph.

Then I propose an asymmetrical parallel format like the photograph of looking.

If you see the photograph with a parallel methods over the both ends of 3 fingers upraised at hand, you should be able to do corporal vision also with a big photograph.

Please try here. You can see a bigger (A4 size) photograph than the upper one here.
