There was a steepness in the darkness
I wanted to cut it like a comet crash
Hit the city, where you had echoed from a flash
Made it all seem not so bad
'Cause we were parallel lines running through the whole sky
And even in the low light, we were aligned
'Cause we were parallel lines, separate the whole time
But even in the divide, you and I
Don't dare repeat this
But when I lay alone that night
I let the city see me cry
And in my weakness
I wish you hadn't closed your eyes
Crossed the city, open mine
'Cause we were parallel lines, running through the whole sky
And even in the low light, we were aligned
'Cause we were parallel lines, separate the whole time
But even in the divide, you and I
I watched you comb your hands through the light
Every detail spilled from your outline
All at once you filled my eyes
And I could see it all for the first time
'Cause we were parallel lines running through the whole sky
(The whole sky)
And even in the low light, we were aligned
(We were aligned)
'Cause we were parallel lines, separate the whole time
(Whole time)
And even in the divide, you and I

fall 2012. self portrait.
this always brings back memories. I took this as part of a series that I created for my photography application to Tisch at NYU, fulfilling the given "parallel universe" prompt. I was accepted, with a full tuition scholarship. I attended from fall 2013 - spring 2014 and then left. something happened that has caused me to not make any real new work since leaving the program.
NYU was my dream school, and I never thought I'd get in. I also never thought that I'd leave.

Can i jump in the water and be in a parallel world ? Sure, looks like it, would have tried, but the pool wasn't deep enough. That night was surprisingly calm and just before the water rushed in to disturb the pool, i managed to get the reflections. Being there, one could easily see the milkyway reflecting in the water.
This is a 2 x 2 panorama shot from Pakiri Beach back in February. Pakiri Beach is an amazing dark spot around Auckland region, the light pollution from auckland is blocked by pakiri hills which lets you enjoy the milkyway better than any other location.

So far I can't find much on the net regarding the phenomenon of synchronisation in human locomotion. It seems that when people like each other and/or feel relaxed in each other's company they tend to synchronise in various ways. I came across this again and again at slow shutter speeds during this Dublin city centre photoshoot.
Parallels, a word you had to really grind away at learning at school or it is likely, you would always have too many "r's" or "s's" or both or just not enough of either. I still have to say it out loud to ensure I get it right.....and blow the predictive text or spell checker! This is just a study of the end of the double tracks at Sandgate on Queensland Rail's Shorncliffe branch in suburban Brisbane. The terminus is next, and a few more feet from the end of the line would have you tipped into Cabbage Tree Creek. I am standing on the end of the platform.......once upon a time, this place had a number of sidings to store passenger trains overnight, one for local traders on the left and just out of sight on the right, the Sandgate Gasworks and its sidings and distinctive smell where wagons of coal for the retorts were railed in to make "town gas". The sky was devoid of all the overhead line equipment then, steam and diesel engines rained supreme!
I just love it when I can "play games" with the light and the shadows depending on the time of day I shoot something. For example in this early morning shot, the sun makes these awesome lines on this wall, that are completely parallel. Depending on the time of day, these lines change length. This is the time they are the longest.
