There was a steepness in the darkness
I wanted to cut it like a comet crash
Hit the city, where you had echoed from a flash
Made it all seem not so bad
'Cause we were parallel lines running through the whole sky
And even in the low light, we were aligned
'Cause we were parallel lines, separate the whole time
But even in the divide, you and I
Don't dare repeat this
But when I lay alone that night
I let the city see me cry
And in my weakness
I wish you hadn't closed your eyes
Crossed the city, open mine
'Cause we were parallel lines, running through the whole sky
And even in the low light, we were aligned
'Cause we were parallel lines, separate the whole time
But even in the divide, you and I
I watched you comb your hands through the light
Every detail spilled from your outline
All at once you filled my eyes
And I could see it all for the first time
'Cause we were parallel lines running through the whole sky
(The whole sky)
And even in the low light, we were aligned
(We were aligned)

Encountered this building on a walk through a new part (to me) of the inner Melbourne suburb I moved into this year.
There is an interesting tussle between perspective and the natural convergence of the street curbs and the veranda gutters. The closer they are to the view point, the narrower their distance apart, yet the laws of perspective win and make it appear otherwise.
Neither the building nor its plot of land is triangular. All the nearby houses in the left hand street face about 45 degrees relative to the street itself, making their side fences actually parallel to the right hand street. That includes this building and its land, both being nearly rectangular in plan view, except for the very tip of the corner.
I got a young local artisan of passion and flare to build me a bookshelf for just part of my book collection, still significant, although now a ten times decimation of the original combined libraries of my wife and myself. I suppose that residue might end one day in a limbo like this before being consigned to the "everlasting bonfire"...

So far I can't find much on the net regarding the phenomenon of synchronisation in human locomotion. It seems that when people like each other and/or feel relaxed in each other's company they tend to synchronise in various ways. I came across this again and again at slow shutter speeds during this Dublin city centre photoshoot.
The veins run parallel from the base to the apex in this particular species of bamboo plant.

Here the light on the pillars was creating some harsh parallel shadows and I saw this young man coming towards me wearing a jumper of stripes. He walked into the space creating the juxtaposition of repeating light and dark stripes in much the same tones and colours.
There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.

A parallel world inside a world.
Moved by what we don't understand.
An inner path to an alien Anthropocene
to save our beauty
A work in progress. I think I can get this a lot neater, but it'll take some careful measuring and a special custom built tripod head. Watch this space...
Oh, and this is straight out the Canon, no adjustments!

A Soo Line train using trackage rights on the Milwaukee Road derailed at night on the trip into Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in April 1984. I don’t remember much of the details, but I seem to recall that the cause was some kids opening a switch to an industrial spur that the train hit at track speed. I don’t think anyone was seriously hurt, but I really don’t want to know what is in that tagged bag on the right. I’m not sure of the exact location either; if anyone remembers, feel free to let me know.

Parallels is an immersive installation that uses the precision of lasers and mirrors to transform moving footage into floating abstractions of light. Inspired by movements and tones found in the natural world, Parallels uses footage of natural phenomena to offer a transcendent experience of light and sound. Set to a soundtrack by Max Cooper. Best viewed after dark.

I just love it when I can "play games" with the light and the shadows depending on the time of day I shoot something. For example in this early morning shot, the sun makes these awesome lines on this wall, that are completely parallel. Depending on the time of day, these lines change length. This is the time they are the longest.
