Sacry for sure, ...but well worth the terrifying ride (and $21 bucks each) to "Paradise Point" at the top of the mountain. -THe most beautiful views I've seen in my life, even better than Diamond Head in Hawaii
This sunset greeted me as I returned to my truck at Paradise Point after sunset following my long hike north up the beach to the Elk River.
It's 1800 vertical feet from the parking lot to here in just 5 miles (or it isn't, but it feels like that much). By the time you've reached the semi-flat trail at the summit, muscles ache, the eyed sting with sweat, and you question why it is you love to bike.
But then you sit on a quiet rock, eat a cliff bar, a stare out onto this. Oh yeah... This is part of the joy.
Then it's time to continue...

This photo was taken on the second day. I woke up at 3 in the morning to go out and capture the milky way. I was hoping the skies would be clear and the stars would show themselves. Around sunrise I drove up to the paradise point and waited about 45 minutes in the car. Around sunrise I got out and started walking up through the trail towards Alta Vista point. Which was not far off from the parking lot and could be reached easily within 15-20 minutes.
I saw this small stream crossing trail and just as I was approaching the point I saw a deer drinking water. That made me pause for a moment as I did not want to scare the animal. I decided not go any further and setup my tripod there itself. I experimented with AEB feature and LEE GND for this shot separately just to see which gave me better results. The final image is of course a blend of two exposures.
Equipment:
Camera - Canon T1i
Lens - Canon EF-S 10-22mm UW
Filter - LEE 0.6 soft and 0.9 hard GND
