Never pawned or something, all plain vanilla all the time. Syncing with iTunes on Mac one sunday, then out of nowhere: error, reboot, restore, kernel panic, dead. new one.

This pair of Mountain Bluebirds were in complete panic. A chipmunk had managed to run up the nest tree and enter the nest cavity and they couldn't do anything about it. I don't know if there were still nestlings inside or not. The chipmunk managed to do this two times. There was another young bluebird that looked like it was too young to have fledged that may have escaped the nest and was on the ground. The parents were feeding it, but it could only fly a few feet. More on the young one later.
My entry for day 302 of the 2009photochallenge; the theme for the day was PANIC.
When drivers panic, they inevitably step on the brakes. Sometimes this works out well, sometimes not. As a cyclist, I've learned to look for brake lights as one among several warnings of imminently erratic behavior from cars. As an ode to panic, then, here is the center high mount stop light (and its reflection on the trunk) of a car.
Funny story about these. Apparently they were introduced in the late 1970s by researchers who were concerned about rear-end collisions, which are, almost by definition, collisions that happen when the rear driver is looking at but not paying attention to the car in front. Adding these center high mount stop lights turned out to be incredibly effective in reducing rear end accidents in lab simulations, which seemed great. So car manufacturers began putting them in all new cars. But then, once drivers became acclimated to the things, they stopped paying attention to them, and the reduction of rear end accidents found in the lab pretty much disappeared entirely. Moral: you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it persist in capturing visual attention after the novelty wears off.
I'm quite alright with having heroes. Panic is an inspirational group. Everything they do exudes a level of care and craftsmanship that I feel I too often need to remind myself to strive for. We could all do with a little more Panic in our lives.

Usei:
- 01 camada da base fortalecedora Nailgrowth Miracle, da Sally Hansen
- 02 camadas do rosa chegay fosco Purple Panic!, da China Glaze

Just Don't Panic!
"A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitch hiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a bush, but very, very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.
More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with."

Emily was having a nice day near the lake when suddenly a stranger appeared and ask if he could take a picture of her. No wonder she was panicking.

In an almost empty compartment of a suburban train in Mumbai a panic stricken commuter wears a face mask and holds a handkerchief over it. Swine flu has caused three deaths (all in the last week) and less than 1000 infections in India. In a country with a population of one billion, this makes it one of the more innocuous epidemics till now.
