These are small vintage threads, a very old panic button (origin unknown), all on a light box, with crumpled foil in the distant background. Studio lights, tripod, the works. About 2 inches across/5 centimetres.

Panic used to be my middle name.

NB. Last January 2022 I asked for help and a Flickr support hero removed my account from the Explore algorithm. I feel more peaceful.

Don't Panic is a phrase on the cover of *The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy*, by Douglas Noel Adams.* The phrase and book originated in 1978 as a BBC radio comedy before becoming much, much more.

An old sewing machine needle supports the old button with two vintage buttons behind it. The Panic button measures less than .75cm /0.3 inches. Fun lens! The streaming or expanding light is deliberate ;-)

*Douglas Noel Adams (11 March 1952 – 11 May 2001) was an English author, screenwriter, essayist, humorist, satirist and dramatist who died far too young!

A friend of mine thought this would be a funny photo to emphasize how people are in a panic to buy toilet paper with the Covid-19 situation. This store was completely sold out of TP and people were buying paper towels in large volumes. From what I've read about the symptoms I think a lot of people are going to have so much TP they won't need to buy anymore for a long time.

Techical info:

The scene was illuminated by an LED cube @ 8-o'clock, an overhead LED at 2-o'clock, and a red LED flashlight handheld camera left.

Cruising hen harrier sends the wildfowl scurrying for cover. I think they all made it!

Well I spent an evening and a a morning at Smith Rock waiting for a beautiful sunset or sunrise. I had hopes for the sunrise so I camped out and waited. Nothing happened so I packed up my gear as it was overcast and no light was happening. We were driving towards the exit when a small opening in the cluuds appeared, so I rushed back and unpacked my camera and quickly took this 2 shot pano. I was delighted with the light and it only lasted about 2 or 3 minutes and it was gone. I actually ran down the path like a maniac to capture this.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of birds use 235 foot tall Haystack Rock as a nesting area. When eagles come by the birds arise en mass in frantic flight.

Here we go, here we go

And we live in a beautiful world,

Yeah we do, yeah we do,

We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,

There's nothing here to run from,

'Cause everybody here's got somebody to lean on.

"Don't Panic" - Coldplay

Rather than the dog walk this morning I ventured out for a bit of photography and it did me the world of good. The nasty virus was relegated to being an irritating niggle for a couple of hours. I had a bit of a plan after looking up the tides and the sun direction. So I was prepared and nearly got my photo. These wheels have stayed put for years no matter what the North Sea throws at them, so are we going to let a bug to knock us of our axis, no! We have some brilliant people working on this so trust in the best of humanity. In the words of Corporal Jones “Don’t panic Captain Manning”.

The Purple Swamphen is a large rail. It is mainly dusky black above, with a broad dark blue collar, and dark blue to purple below. As the Purple Swamphen walks, it flicks its tail up and down, revealing its white undertail. The bill is red and robust, and the legs and feet orange-red. For such a bulky bird, the Swamphen is an accomplished flier and will readily take to the air to escape danger. In flight, the long legs and elongated toes trail behind or hang underneath the body. Purple Swamphens are proficient swimmers, but prefer to wander on the edges of the water, among reeds and on floating vegetation.
