Model was shot in front of a blue screen which was lit by two 150ws studio strobes.
Inside the box was a Sunpak flash. I coated the inside of the box with aluminum foil, put the flash in and covered it with a paper towel. Below, in front and to the left of the model I placed another sunpak flash, on a stand with a gold umbrella. Everything fired with cactus triggers.
I was commissioned to create this image for the rear cover of an upcoming album release from the Norwegian band "Illusion Suite". I will be creating all of the album art for the release, including front and back covers, the CD art and a 10 page booklet.

The image of the sculpture "Pandora" by Chauncey Bradley Ives (1858) was taken June 20, 2010 at the Huntington Library's Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art. The image of the lotus flowers were taken the same day while walking through the botanical gardens. www.huntington.org/

This shot is surprisingly only my SECOND shot I’m sharing from Pandora. I’ve looked over these shots so many times now trying to decide how to proceed it feels like more. This shot is a spot that has already become quite popular with photographers looking into the queue of Flight of Passage. I think it’s easy to see why as there are just tons of cool details everywhere… honestly that can be said of the entire Avatarland, but this is one of these ‘easy’ shots to actually frame and take. With that in mind I wanted to approach the edit seriously and make sure that my version of it stood out and wasn’t just another ‘me too’ shot.
One thing I noticed right away with all of my Pandora shots, and especially one like this, is that they are just BEGGING to be dodged and burned. There are so many little nooks and crannies and highlights and shadows. This final version has about an hour and a half of manual dodge and burn work alone. Quite intensive, but well worth it for what I think, amazing sky potential aside, the best possible version I could possibly do of this shot with my current skill set. The image is composed of 2 exposures, 1 for the sky, and 1 for everything else. The final edit is composed of 31 various adjustment layers and nearly 3 hours of editing. I hope you will enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

This composite image contains the aftermath of a giant collision involving four separate galaxy clusters at a distance of about 3.5 billion light years. Officially known as Abell 2744, this system is also referred to by astronomers as "Pandora's Cluster" because all of the different structures found within it. This view of Abell 2744 contains X-ray data from Chandra (blue) showing hot gas, optical data from Subaru and the VLT (red, green and blue), and radio data from the NSF's Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (red).

The Milwaukee Road SD40-2 number 200 was freshly delivered to the road's Milwaukee diesel house, when James Claflin from EMD photographed it on June 12, 1974. On February 26, 1977, the 200 would be involved in a head-on collision at Pandora Washington, where the 163 would shear off the 200's nose and cab back to the prime mover. After extensive rebuilding by The Milwaukee Road shop forces in Milwaukee, the unit would continue to soldier on. With the takeover by the Soo Line, the 200 would become SOO 6387, which they retired in February 1985. The unit would then be sold to the DM&E shortly thereafter and maintain the 6387 number until being sent to HLCX and becoming their 6213. The former 200 now works for the Norfolk Southern after a complete rebuild and is the NS 3505. The only distinguishing part of being a former Milwaukee locomotive is it's short 3,200 gallon fuel tank.

Pandora is probably one of the best creations ever done by the Disney Imaginears. Walking through this area at night is like nothing I have ever experienced before within a Disney park. It totally transforms you into a whole other world. What are your thoughts on this awesome place? Have a magical day!
To call Pandora a "visual feast" would be an understatement. The area comes to life at night with stunning luminescence.

A few friends and I had the pleasure of watching Pandora, the Harris Hawk, with her handler, John Allen, out in a field. She was gorgeous!
The Supertres in Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, during blue hour. This view instantly reminded me of Pandora in James Cameron's 2009 film Avatar.
