The Gloria Caeli drifted by my house today, passing just over the exposed viga. The balloon is owned by Jonathan Wolfe of Albuquerque. A beautiful winter day - not a cloud in the sky, just a single balloon in the surprisingly late afternoon. BTW, today's date is a palindrome: 01022010.

Appropriately gauche sign for displays of the "our fightin' boys" military glory comics genre. I imagine this was big for all relevant decades of comics history, and other series cashed in too: I saw an issue of "The Punisher in The 'Nam" for sale.

I think about wartime's representation in US pop culture a lot. Are we headed for something like that again?
