Narra wood with a crest beautifully carved with overlocking pierced acanthus leaves on round and waisted back that continue as undulating arms that end in scrolls; the stump supports, seat apron, knees and feet of the cabriole legs are carved with foliated decorations; generous in size and decorations, with slight differences in dimensions as intended to be ‘his’ and ‘hers’ chairs

This pair showing the real size difference that can exist between the sexes. Nr Sailisbury, Wiltshire.
This was a distant, quick shot of this pair of beautiful Wood Ducks. Caught them just before they rounded a bend in the river and disappeared from sight. I had seen them swimming away from the river bank and thought they would be Mallards, so I got a pleasant surprise when I suddenly realized that these were the first Wood Ducks I'd really seen this year. Though the male is more colourful, I always think the female is an attractive bird, too. Taken yesterday, when I was walking along the Bow River at Carburn Park.
Bought these at a flea market years ago. The seller said there was a middle piece that he would bring to the next show. Never saw him again.

A pair of early 20th century narra butaca chairs

A pair of narra lounging chairs or silla perezosa, which is a variation of the more widely known collective name butaca. The wide, reclined single back and seat is woven in solihiya, with arched rail decorated with a crest of scrolls, foliates and flowers.
The arms are not very long but characteristically wide. The shape of the legs is reminiscent of that found in curule seats used in ancient Rome and Europe until the 20th century.
