There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I get up from my dark solitude
in the park under the pigeons
atop the Cherokee Chief statue
and walk along the boulevard
of elms and budding oaks
which sprinkle their pink pollen
over me, a blessing this April
morning as I wait for my restaurant
to open and drink my coffee
on a bench under the sidewalk canopy,
gaze upon the fruits and flowers
at the market and try to memorize
the names on the windows of all
the shops I have never been in
but now seem to beckon me,
but I am distracted by a plump
sparrow eating a crust of pizza
who reminds me of an old-time
comedian and the newspaper
blowing past my feet like urban
tumbleweed and I wonder
where is the grizzled guy
with his repent and turn sign
this sparkling morning and here
comes a mother pushing twins
in a stroller and then a city bus
whistling and spilling blue diesel
exhaust I inhale deeply and know
this will be another day to discuss
with Aristotle, a day to muse upon
and then write these very words.

Trying hard to imitate Ken Rowley again! I love photography!
PS September 20, 2022: A nice person commented on one of my photos, and when I reciprocated I saw she had a wonderful shot with boats in it. So I'm sharing with you another of my Oldies but goodies -- the only time I ever took photos of boats and a marina and all involved. I loved my photos. Is that silly To love your own photos? Anyway here's one of them and I'm so pleased to share it with you and all for His glory!
When we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: "Free at last! Free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

In the garden at Bridge Cottage, Flatford. If it was a good enough location for Constable, it's good enough for them.
And yes that is a duck resting under the bench!
