A classical point of view on Notre-Dame from the Archbishop's Bridge (Pont de l’Archevêché); a hot spot for painters!
I have no idea what these lads are singing. . . but I might work on some of their snappy dance moves. . .
Brickworks, Toronto, Canada.
That year the fall was very “slow”. I visited Brickworks many times trying to track its development and the change. On one morning things just came together. There was a bit of morning fog, the early sunlight was gentle and there were still few leaves which contrasted nicely with the yellowed grasses.
All elements either photographed or made by me except fish which were a freebie from photoshop creative.
We have gathered
across the roadway
from each other, those
who gaze impassively
at us and we who seem
an apparition, for the moment,
a middle day of summer,
the sorrow that has plagued
us for weeks lifting slowly
like a mist that brings
those others not us
into some relief, the tall
man wiping his forehead,
the woman searching
in her bag, two boys
with empty eyes
on this windless day
when the shadows
of clouds seem another
weight fallen upon us,
but we hear their silence
as they drift overhead
as they stand and wait
as the clouds split apart
and a sudden illumination
instructs us to walk
and we do, toward them.
