P.S. Please alive :-)

Last week sometime, there was some activity on an old photo from a few years back. So I went to the photo and looked at some of the contacts and saw a name of a lady I had not seen in my stream for some time.

So I visited her stream to see what she had been up to knowing that sometimes people just stop posting for some reason or another. Someone commented that she had passed away and I immediately felt saddened. I realize that we have only small relationships here. But I do know some small things about my contacts and what you like to shoot and basically where you live.

I was upset with myself for having forgotten her or not noticing. I have been bothered all week that a year or more have gone by and I wish I had of known.

Yet her stream is there. This I love.

Blessed is the water

in the stone fountain

and blessed be the light

on the water and the hymn

of the city rising and falling

as lights change, as cars wait

and pedestrians walk, as walkers

wait and taxis lurch, go-slow-stop,

shamrock green, amber, bloody

crimson, bike courier cruising,

metro bus, delivery trucks and

whose dog has shed his leash

and what of the baby rat

at the trash buffet and here

is the one-armed gimme gimme

man at his office under the awning,

his empty can clinking if it's payday

as passersby try not to notice

and pass by, but the busker

with his toy ukulele is strumming

up business, scatting in tongues,

jive talking to himself as if he

is light years away from 5th Ave,

center city, Madison Gardens

not so square anymore, the day

losing its luster: so turn up

the pzazz a little, tweak

the backbeat, praise the pigeon

choir flocking down to perform,

Alleluia, Alleluia.

It was a soft gray day near the California coastal town of Montera. A field of agapanthus were looking quite grand as they flaunted their colorful flowers against the gun metal gray of the ocean. A trifecta of artists were diligently working, attempting to capture the landscape on their easels. I felt a little guilty about how easy it was for me to memorialize the scene with my camera, while the artists had to work so hard. I'm guessing none of them saw it as hard work at all. Sure wish I could paint a lick.

The St. Louis Blues won their first ever Stanley Cup championship in professional ice hockey over the Boston Bruins. Named after Lord Stanley of Preston, Governor General of Canada who enjoyed ice hockey, the silver cup has been present annually since 1892 -- and from the Blues' first season in 1967 until now, St Louis had never won. A great weekend to everyone!

Today I have been experimenting with taking painterly photos, but I have been struggling to get the aperture low enough so the results aren't quite what I was expecting.
