Lister Blackstone 2ft gauge 'Railtruck' (Works No. 54181 built in 1964) in use moving materials at the Painter Brothers Ltd site at Hereford. This was the occasion of an Industrial Railway Society visit on 14th October 1985.

Painter Brothers was founded at Hereford in 1920 and the site has two galvanizing plants which between them can process over 30,000 tonnes of interchangeable structural steelwork per annum. The company specialises in the manufacture of:

Callender-Hamilton lattice girder bridge systems.

Communications masts and towers for radio and television broadcasting and for microwave and satellite communications.

Galvanised steel towers for the electrical transmission and distribution industries.

Lattice distribution poles, sub-station support steelwork, flare stack support structures, rail electrification gantry structures and cross-arm steelwork.

There were two Lister 'Railtrucks' and two battery locomotives on site. The Lister locomotives were deemed surplus to requirements and sold on to private purchasers in 2011, but the railway continues in use, operated by battery electric locomotives.

Being that today is the First day of Winter, I thought I'd make this photo a little extra special giving it a painterly effect and by framing it. Sending Winter Greetings from Nebraska, USA.
