New Year's Day. One of the highest tide fluctuation days... King Tides time...very high, high tide and very low, low tide. As the tide went out it was going very very fast...not much wind and going against the tide meant that the paddle boarders were going almost faster than the sailboats. And such a warm winter's day to ring in the new year.
OK, not *that* crowded -- but I found it amusing that the speedboat was passing in front of the sailboats while they appeared to be close together, *and* there was a paddleboarder almost in line as well.
A man in a wetsuit carrying a green paddleboard and paddle walks towards the Atlantic Ocean on a sandy beach near Sintra, Lisbon, Portugal.
Late afternoon on Lake Ammersee, near Herrsching am Ammersee. A paddleboarder quietly glides over the shimmering water.
I loved the simplicity of the scene: one man, one board, golden light, and that peaceful stillness unique to Bavarian lakes.
A serene moment between motion and contemplation.
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - MAY 06: Paul Hawkins waits for swell on his stand-up paddleboard at Queenscliff Beach on May 1, 2009 in Sydney, Australia. Modern Stand-up paddleboarding originated in Hawaii in the 1960's as a way of surf instructors monitoring their class whilst out in the water. The sport is increasing in popularity globally due to its combination of cardiovascular and 'core' strengthening benefits. (Photo by Cameron Spencer/Getty Images)
