Why bother to bring a flotation device?

Coco trying out the new doggie life jacket in my mom's pool. At first he had a little trouble staying upright, he kept listing to one side then the other! Only took him about 30 seconds or so to get the hang of it, but he tired quickly. He's around 12 now.

And yup - we did lift them out by the handle! It's really easy to just give them a quick boost up the stairs, so they don't get panicky trying to get out.

Paddle-powered canoes are the main method of transportation in Makoko. "The whole world should see Makoko as a community," chief Emmanuel Shemede told me.

I went paddling yesterday for the 1. time this year!

Somebody asked me how I'm going to celebrate my birthday,

I said I will paddle, the best way to celebrate.

Thank you all who commented yesterday on my birthday :)

Paddling in the morning sun

A girl takes full advantage of a lovely summers day at Sorrento, on Port Phillip Bay for some paddle boarding.

Just after putin on Deep river near Cumnock, North Carolina.

This photo is what it is.

Following on from my last upload, Saturday was definitely not overcast, it was hot and sunny, a few brave souls were in the water. This was one of the lifeguards on patrol, very impressive, pretty sure I wouldn't look this graceful!

As one goes through life, One learns that if you don't paddle your own canoe......

You don't move.

Time to view what is beneath us in the Cornwall Canal. The paddle almost reached waterweed (Elodea cannadenis).

Test run of my new Dagger Axis 12. Boat is amazing! Tracks straight as an arrow with the skeg down. It was an amazing quick paddle this evening. Schooling baitfish (herring?) were all around me. I need an underwater housing!!

I was paddling last night with my friend to Akurey.

this lady was one of a group but seems miles away as she floats by on her own - totally chilled out

What better way to spend a Saturday then paddling in your kayak on the Vermilion River.

Around and around in circles we go.

i think the water is to a tempter where most people could bear to put there fit in it, so if you down the beach this weekend go for a paddle you won't regret it

This picture of "paddling" was taken on the Gananoque River.

The lady in the front appeared to be doing most of the paddling and the chap behind her looked to be resting. Naturally I don't know if this arrangement was consensual or not.

One time quite a few years ago, I went on a canoe trip with another chap. I was in the front of the canoe and my friend was in the back. As we were leaving the dock at the beginning of our trip my friend's father said to him, "You paddle too, Ted".

Naturally I then wondered during the whole trip whether or not my friend was paddling or if I were the one doing the most of the work and during my whole life since I have pondered the philosophical question about just how exactly the fellow in the front is supposed to know if the guy in the back is paddling or not. I have never yet come to a satisfactory answer to this question but my pondering has yielded some results for I have concluded that it is much better to sit in the back of the canoe rather than the front.

I've never been in a kayak, but friends tell me they're great for wildlife photography. What's keeping me from trying? Photography! I wouldn't want to take a camera with me during my first few times out; I'd be afraid of making a mistake and getting it wet. And, I wouldn't want to be in those wonderful places without a camera!

Maybe I need one that's waterproof . . .
