WNY&P 643 leads a 5 pack of ALCo of various flavors through the curve near South Eldred, PA.
These guys will pause at Eldred to take on fuel before continuing south to Port Allegheny. For economic reasons, it's cheaper for the WNY&P to fuel by truck in Pennsylvania than it is in New York (shocker, right??) The two rear units, a pair of C421's, would set off at Port Allegheny to take a train back north to Olean.

So called because it is at the end of a pack trail. The pack trail is shown on USGS 7.5' map of this area. This is the only standing headframe in the Delamar district that I have found. This photo was taken in between the mill ruin shots on this day.
I parked down by the mill and hiked up to the ridge. The trail skirts along the upper edge of the crater that is the Glory Hole of the Hogpen Shoot (gotta love that name) and it runs along the northwest side of the ridge. There are some minor scrambling stretches (very minor) at first and then the trail essentially follows the 6,850' contour. There is another abandoned mine along the approximately 2,000 foot length trail, it is a hole in the ground with waste rock piled around and nothing else. This mine and the others in this immediate area are all on an incline that I estimate about 70 degrees from horizontal.
The pack trail is not very easily seen as it has been a long time since it was used. The easiest way to follow is to run the USGS map on your device and keep your cursor (your position) on or near where the trail was. It is obvious in many sections but some areas are just steep woods with no trail apparent. There are a couple of spots where trees have grown near or on the old trail, and must be bypassed. It is also pretty easy to note where this is on the map and head that way – I would describe this area as rugged country so the pack trail is the easy way.
Saw four wild horses along the way, walked right up on one to within 50 feet.

Just for clarification, you’re looking at a drawing of 2 dogs. Bertie, on the left, rocking his ‘Lockdown haircut’ and trying to emulate Kevin Keegan’s 1980's afro. Kegan may have been a great dribbler, so is Bertie, sadly just not with a football.
Martha is on the right with a slightly doleful, hangdog expression as she hates having her paws superglued to the table to keep her still*.
I have seen a few Twitter posts recently where people have shown their current artwork compared to earlier years, so I had a look through my previous drawings and………..…...... lets just call this my ‘Regression 💩 Phase’.
