142078 passes through Kirk Sandall with the 2C23 Hull-Doncaster, 8.12.19.

Years ago when they were built, I thought this was the ugliest car ever made. Nowadays, the title is held by the Hummer, and I have a fondness for the Pacer that probably isn't really deserved.

After spending New Years Eve afternoon with my wife in Leeds it was a one of those rare occasions when we where in separate cars and this gave me half an hour to explore the far end of Leeds Station Long Stay Car park.

Its a spot I have wanted to revisit just to see what's shots are available, I will return, but will need to be quick, works are underway to build a new platform 0, which will involve a partial closure and from May 2019 complete closure of the car park to the public.

At many airshows, either the Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels are the main attraction. However, for many people the F-14 Tomcat and the associated demonstration always has held a special spot.

The 2005 N.A.S. Oceana Airshow and Open House was no different. In fact, many people from around the world gathered in Virginia Beach, Virginia to witness the final tactical demonstration of the infamous F-14 Tomcat.

Putting "Gunfighter 160" through her paces on Sunday, Lieutenant Jack "Rocco" Tangredi (pilot) and Lieutenant Joe "Smokin" Ruzicka (RIO) put the F-14 through her paces one last time in front of an airshow crowd.

Seen here during the first high speed pass of the demo, Rocco and Smokin have the Tomcat moving somewhere near the speed of sound. A true sight and sound to behold.

Nothing compares to the awesome look of an F-14 with its wings swept back...

Model Year 1958 was the inaugural year model for the failed Ford Motor Company brand. The 'Pacer' and 'Ranger' were the economy models with a shorter wheelbase than the "Corsair' and 'Citation.' The Edsel brand last only until model year 1960.

The name 'Edsel' was the given name of the son of Henry Ford, the company founder. Edsel Ford was also the father of Henry Ford II.

Thanks for viewing my photos on Flickr. I can also be found on Twitter and You Tube

Seems like I have been gone a lot longer than I have. I did a paid shoot 9 days ago and between work, hockey and my self imposed deadline to get the images to the persons who hired me, it felt like I have been away a few weeks. Definitely miss visiting my Flickr peeps. I also discovered some Flickrmail that came to me as long ago as May 2021, but for some reason it hadn't shown up! I hope everyone is doing well and sitting back having a pierogi.

I saw this AMC Pacer while getting an emissoins test on my Jeep (a $20 donation to the state of CT) on Tuesday. Pretty cool, not many of these around.

I am on a PACE to start catching up on my editing and posting though I have loads of catching up yet to go. Here is another of the freshly mown Pace farm. I shot several views down at the old Pace farmstead, barn and shed off "Quicksilver:" Road southeast of Logtown. There WAS a Logtown mining camp in the day in Colorado's San Juans. I furtively sneaked up on this shot of a scene after first sight I found on Google maps. The sheds are nearly empty and I wonder if there is more production other than baled hay and bee production. It is mostly a rural and quiet home except for the birthday party they were throwing when I got there. I should have gotten a piece of cake and a brewski before I took off. I learned that this was the original Pace family farm of Longmont Pace Street fame. I did a google search and found the following:

"Charles W. Pace was a well known rancher and farmer who came to Colorado by covered wagon in 1903. He was one of the founders of the National Western Stock Show in Denver, and helped in starting the Boulder County Fair in Longmont. Mr. Pace was born in Adair County, Iowa, on May 25, 1866. When he was eleven, his family moved to Hopkins, Missouri, where he grew to adulthood. It was here that he married Miss Celia Dixon, in 1887. The couple had four children: Fred L., Frank H., Goldie, and Sylvia. The young family farmed in Iowa and Kansas, before moving to Colorado in 1903. They stopped first at Boulder, but relocated to Longmont later that same year. In Longmont, the Paces became prosperous farmers and ranchers." Longmont Architectural Inventory Form

It looks like they just had a barn sale. Is this more of a lawn now or more of a pasture, mowed for fathering hay? The old sugar mill was visible over the distant trees in the last image. Did Pace grow sugar beets for the sugar beet campaigns? Two ugly days in a row kept me in hiding in the air conditioning and work on other projects. The bad sky days have extended into September so far this summer as have the 90s. It is way beyond the normal middle 70 as a normal daily temp.

I remember when I played with mercury as a kid and my finger had mercurochrome painted everywhere. Mostly banished now.

I think the Class 143s will be withdrawn by the 12th December and Pacers will be no more in Devon. Can not say I will miss them but they have been part of the railway scene down here for many years now.

Of course if you believe the BBC they only operated in Manchester and the last one was withdrawn on the 27th November but unless it isn't within 30 miles of Salford the BBC don't appear interested these days...
