Riccia making oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis - this plant is an aquatic liverwort. I believe some people use it in their aquariums. This one was stuck in a plastic jar in a dark cabinet in the botany lab for almost a year or so. I had little hope it was still alive when I found it, but after a few weeks in the light this is what it looks like! Definitely alive and photosynthesizing.

note the well visible vains. This happens when the contact lens does not let enough oxygen reach the surface of the cornea. The result is a oxygen-deficiency that the eye tries to compensate with transporting more blood to the center of the eys. That is why the vains become bigger and more visible. In such case an other type of contact should be tried out, because the oxygen-deficiency is bad for the eye over a long period.
I picked this up years back when it was about to be thrown out of my old Red Cross centre and found it again today. It seems to be a soft plasic face mask (a re-usable one!) which sits into the metal cylinder. The tiny Oxygen cylinders fit into the large metal tube. The black plastic on the top looks to be a sort of plunger. I certainly never saw or used such a device, anyone ever recall these, and for what they were used in treating? It looks like it was held by hand to the patients face as there is no looping to secure to the head.
This is a beaker being filled with liquid oxygen for our demonstration showing the substance's paramagnetism. When dropped between the poles of a large electromagnet, the liquid will stay suspended in mid-air. The eerie greenish blue glow certainly doesn't hurt the other-worldly effect.

East German Army Rebreather rg-ufm. This is how it looks when you remove the grey cover. The diving mask is a orginal mask which came along with the rebreather issued by the GDR army back then in the 70-80s.
The CMF (constant mass flow) pressure reducer, makes from 200atmosfers / bar around 3,5bar. This goes over an orifice and the result is a steady theoretical 0,8 liter per minute metabolic rate oxygen flow. The bypass rubber knob is ready for a 50 liter per minute bypass.
Most RG-UFM rebreathers come in this mint condition when you are lucky to get one. The scrubber is unique for what i have seen around. It is cheap and is made out of smell neutral pvc which you can modify and glue and weld with heat.
The counterlung is a very small 3,5liter counterlung and too small so a good solution has to be aranged for this when you plan to dive the unit.
If you get lucky to own a Rg-ufm rebreather make good sure you understand the dangers of rebreather diving. The preparation with flushing the nitrogen out of the system and disinfecting the loop every now and next dive is a neccesary preparation. Also you are depth limited to a safe diving depth of 6meters. (ppo2: 1,6bar.).
The screwthreat is M22x1 for the manometer connection. And for the filling connection at the valve (reducer to valve) the threat is BSP 3/4 (G3/4).
