Overworked

A mule standing at rural house on mountain in Nepal.

Teachers are overworking. This is my idea of fun on Friday evening: writing referee statements for journals and conferences.

The TV series is set in the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester during the 1950s, Anglican vicar and former Scots Guards officer Sidney Chambers, and subsequently his successor Will Davenport, work with the overworked Detective Inspector Geordie Keating to forge an unlikely partnership in solving crimes.

The oldest part of the church – the chancel – dates from the 14th century, the nave and tower are 15th century, whilst the south aisle was added in the 1870s. The font is believed to be Norman, and the 17th century pulpit probably came from the chapel of Corpus Christi College.

ArtRage on iPad. I decided to go with this early simple version of the portrait; later iterations were overworked and just too fussy. Link to the discussion www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty/discuss/7215762868556...

Starting with an initial concept and vision, throughout the development of her works, O’Donnell lets the creative process takeover. The development and resolution of each work tends to take her about two weeks to complete depending on scale and degree of detail. Elements within the work change, as the composition of the work is re-balanced. It is still a fine line between working and overworking and knowing when to stop is crucial. O’Donnell stops when she feels it is enough, however she does frequently sees elements that she would like to alter after she has decided that she has completed the work.

I darkened the walkway, put a little shadow under the roses on the right, made the green a little darker on the upper left, and added a bit more detail.

I think I overworked the walkway a little but overall I'm pretty happy with this one. Thanks to all the advice that folks gave me!

We brought Rocko's ashes home today.....

" Hear our prayer O Lord for animals that are overworked, underfed and cruelly treated; for all wistful creatures in captivity that beat their wings against bars; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death. and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words." Albert Schweitzer

Church of the Visitation, Eaton, Ohio. This sign is seriously overworked and breaks just about all rules of good signage. All-caps sans serif tightly spaced and running all the way around the entry of the building. There are some stray numerals tossed in there -- are they supposed to be verse numbers?

Day Forty-Seven: January 28th, 2007.

It's been a busy and stressful week. Almost every waking hour has been devoted to work and hours of sleep are few and far between.

I did nearly 30 hours of overtime this week. It's been like 3 weeks since I've had a day off and there's no end in sight.

It's great for the wallet but tough on mind, body and spirit. The good news is when things do finally slow down, I'll be in fine shape to take a trip or two.

Not only am I cramming in massive amounts of overtime but I also got my tax refund back and my extra 30 hours of holiday pay coming to me. Friday is payday and it's going to be a VERY good day.

Buying a plane ticket is almost a guarantee.

How long I'll be gone or where exactly I'm going, that's not as certain but I do have a few ideas.

What really sucks is I now have the money to be able to pay my tuition for the film school I wanted to attend in London. And the timing is perfect - classes start in March. My desire to pursue this hasn't wavered in the past year, despite all the negative associations I now have with London. As much as I'd love to do it though, I don't think I'm ready to go back there. It's way too soon and the wounds are too fresh.

Another added stress: I finally got the last of the hospital bills for December. It was nearly $7,000 for one night in the hospital and that brings my total debt for that stupid little incident to about $10,000.

It's been so stressful lately and I'm so tired. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a few weeks away but I can see it. Hopefully, a warmer climate. Some place I've never been. Maybe more than one place, I don't know. I just want to travel again. I get so restless.

I just want to get away. I just want to disappear.

Soon enough, I'll be able to.

A bit overworked, eh no? Oh well..& 'case you care:

"Customarily brownie/brounie or urisks are said to inhabit houses and aid in tasks around the house. However, they don't like to be seen and will only work at night, traditionally in exchange for small gifts or food. They take quite a delight in porridge and honey. They usually abandon the house if their gifts are called payments, or if the owners of the house misuse them."

This site was emotionally difficult, but it is important to bear witness and educate. Genocide has repeated itself many times and history and goes on TODAY at this very moment. What are we doing about it?

1.7 - 3.5 Million people died from disease, overwork, and starvation. This number also include the 1.38 million people that were cruelly tortured and coldly executed in the genocide commited in Cambodia over the 4 year period of 1975-79.

The killing fields are the site of the mass graves men, women and children that were brought from the torture center at S-21 Tuol Sleng prison.

I am concerned with the duty cycle of the FT-817.

Power will be reduced from the full 5 watts output to at least 2.5 watts so as to not overwork his final amplifier.

Perhaps a transmitter test will be in order tomorrow for the day is getting too long to carry on at this point...much has been accomplished late this afternoon & early evening & I am very happy with what I have seen so far, very impressive indeed.

On the occasion of the demolition of the Domino Sugar Refining Plant, Creative Time presented a large scale public project by Kara Walker. A Subtlety or the Marvelous Sugar Baby is a massive, sugar-coated sphinx-like woman - "A homage to the unpaid and overworked artisans who have refined our wweet tastes from the cane fields to the kitchens of the New World."

The exhibit was from May 10 to July 6, and I was able to visit it on 06.29.14.

Personal SIGNature 1/7: This is made by STIRB. A close friend of mine showed it to me (the same day he took me to a BILD, which I uploaded already: www.fotolog.net/antoniaschulz/?photo_id=8783617 ).

Today I start the second theme-week in my fotolog: It`s about overworked street signs and stuff like this. Of course in some cases a overworked or stolen sign could be deadly, as the 6@RTIST reminded me. But I think, the ones I`ll show you aren`t dangerous for health.

Let us have a nice week!

[At the moment I'm updating my flickr-account with all my fotolog-pictures.]

Refrigerators at home, in the office or an industry are usually the most overworked appliances. They are constantly running – day and night. The resultant consequence is that different parts wear out and malfunction when you least expect them to. Here is a breakdown of what each repair would cost you financially, and the signs to look out for.

The door has two crucial parts, the hinge, and handle/latch. A hinge connects the door to the main body of the refrigerator and allows it to rotate hence making it possible to open or close. Should it get damaged, you will need $11.21 to get a replacement. As for the handle or latch, you should be prepared with at least $38.32.

Inside the fridge, we have a seal or gasket which prevents air from outside getting in and air inside the freezer from escaping. The telltale sign to watch out for is when the door sweats inside or outside. Your best solution is to find another gasket which retails at $78.83.

The trays and shelves used for holding food in place are also prone to damages. New ones can be bought for $28.18, while the drawer or glides cost $37.48. Those who enjoy ice so much ought to know that their indulgence does not come cheap. A new icemaker costs not less than $65.19.

In case of water leakages from the refrigerator, check the condition of your valve. Chances are that it is worn out. Have a qualified fridge repair expert look at it, but be prepared to part with $52.43 for a quality and durable replacement.

Now, if you happened to open your fridge one night and the lights did not turn on, then you have a switch problem. Which can be solved easily and fast at a price of $29.70. It is such a small fee compared to a fridge owner who is dealing with a faulty motor. He needs an average of $64.22 to stop the annoying noise produced due to an ineffective motor.

When it comes to the filter, you will know it is time to shop for a new one when the water dispenser does not dispense water. Make sure you have $46.61 while doing the rounds in different retail stores. Lastly, the thermostat, which is like the heart of the refrigerator goes for $27.88. You will know it is not working when the temperature inside the freezer section gets warm.

With all those figures in mind, how about you call our certified fridge repair experts to provide quality solutions for your fridge problems. We are very good at diagnosing issues and fixing them instantly. Our team has been in the fridge maintenance business for years, and it’s the best in Durban. We always get the job done. All our technicians are professional and friendly. They are readily available for residential and commercial projects. Give us a call on 087 551 0838, if you want to discuss our competitive rates. However, if you want to learn more about the company, visit our website at www.fridgerepairsdurban.com/.

Ah start-of-term, it's always good to get out of the office during this time to avoid getting overworked.

Between WWI and WWII British tank development followed several strands: Infantry tanks, heavily armoured and slow, intended as battlefield infantry support (hence only needing to move at infantry pace); cruisers, fast, with medium armour, to exploit a successful break-in battle - and light tanks for reconnaissance and patrolling. by the outbreak of WWII the Matilda I was the in-service infantry tank. Capable of only 8 mph in optimum conditions and armed only with a Vickers machine gun, small, cramped and with a heavily overworked crew of two (the commander was expected to observe, engage targets, communicate over a radio in the hull not the turret and if senior, command a troop or larger unit) the one really good thing abut the Matilda I was that its armour was more than adequate to resist the standard German anti-tank guns of the day. However its feeble armament meant it could not successfully engage the opposing armour either! Nevertheless Matilda Is were involved in the Arras counterattack credited with leading to the stop order that allowed the British Army to escape via Dunkirk.

Pot of tulips which open in sunlight. They're not overworked here .....

yesterday was *not* a gud day. i was exhausted, overworked and frustrated.

i made a choice to be happy today.

and i also bought myself a happy yellow bouquet of daisies.

life is too short to waste on unhappiness. we all have so much to be thankful for.

I started doing the wall stenciling I've been planning for a while but somehow never really got around to doing it. So a couple of weekends back, I managed to start, now I'm halfway done on the second wall, which is what u see here. I stopped halfway only because my wrist got so overworked it cramped and it was rendered immobile for the whole evening. Well, I was at it for 6-7 hours straight. Heh.

Criticism: Too overworked, and might be in acrylic rather than watercolour, good composition,

Used a lot af aqua pasto and gum arabic in this, Easily scraped off, and sticky, comments from group that it looked like an oil painting I put down to use of aqua pasto. It gives you second chance to scrub out.

This picture could do with a bit more work on it in my opinion.

The lawn in front of Hammerschlag Hall must look like an irresistible place to rest for an overworked engineering student.

My poor Kevin. He has been so overworked these past few days (maybe even weeks)

Hopefully he gets a break soon in the near future.

I can't take the deluge of credit card applications anymore. Seriously. I know there are about a billion things that deserve my ire more, but the waste (and threat to our financial security, especially if we move), is really, really beginning to get my goat. Between us, we've collected a tidy pile of fake cards (an idea for another day, perhaps).

If I send it back with some kind of "cease and desist" note, do they legally have to stop? Hmm.

Some rough diamonds about

The Hugh Lane Gallery, Parnell Square, Dublin. Houses some pretty exquisite John Lavery paintings and, at the moment, a Francis Bacon exhibition. Sketch is a bit too fussy and overworked if I'm to be honest. I'll keep practicing.

The sign above the door says "Shower Bath." There is much disagreement over the Dachau gas chamber. It's clear it was used to kill some prisoners, but there is apparently little evidence that it was used extensively. Unlike Aushwitz, Dachau was not an extermination camp and most of the 32,000 documented deaths were by hanging, firing squad, disease, or overwork.
