I was just messing around with overprocessing my pictures and this is what came out. Although it came out so black, I like it. However, I guess it wouldn't work as printout so well....

Some surreal processing of the southern Moravian fields ...

This is an awful goofy shot and I'm not sorry.

I have a friend who reads people's auras. He sees all sorts of colors like green & red & purple. He says anyone can do it. All it takes is forgetting everything you think you know & just looking. I've tried it & even though I haven't seen any colors yet, everyone I meet looks so beautiful when I stop knowing everything, that it's pretty hard to go back to the old way.

Was out at Balloch Castle Country Park again today. Tried to find some new interesting spots for photography. Wasn't too lucky, but eventually found this stump. Ended up taking a long exposure and, as you rightly guessed, I've been messing about with tones in lightroom! Anyway, I decided to do some extravagant processing for once!

Have a great weekend everyone.

It has been almost 3 years since I went back to film. I remember my first outing after picking up my film camera was at this very spot in Alviso. The clouds in that evening were gorgeous. I saw everyone except myself carrying a digital camera body. I was pleased to snapp away in a tactile manner. Every sound of shutter pressed, mirror slap, and film rewind was music to my ears.

You may wonder how did I get to this point. Well, I have been watching many YouTube channels. And this young guy named Matt Day caught my attention. I asked myself, "Why would he want to shoot film when digital is so convenient and economical?" To find out, I started watching more YouTube episodes from him. One thing led to another, I then came across another young guy named Willem Verbeeck who was so passonate about shooting film to the point where you can even call him a fanatic. Then came "Graindays", Jason Kummerfeldt and his buddy Caleb. They were even nuttier and sometimes outright hilarious. My head was spinning with their ideas and passion. They have opened my eyes about the art of film.

Then one day when I had my annual medical check up, I asked my family doctor what I should do to combat my memory loss due to aging. He told me to pick up something new to learn. It suddently dawn on me that why not go back to film and discover what I had missed when I was young. Back in the old days during the film era, I was not really a serious photographer. I had my Canon AE-1 that my dad passed down to me after I had graduated from college. The AE-1 was one of those beginner's film SLRs of which you could set things fully automatic and fire away. I actually wasn't that serious until I had my first digital SLR in year 2005 or so. So film to me back then was a medium that I did not appreciate that much. It 's inconvenient and unpredictable. I preferred the clean results coming out of digital. But after shooting digital for many years, I slowly realized there wasn't much I chould learn beyond making a good photo. The post-processing part was pretty straight forward after some experience with Adobe Lightroom and other post-processing software. I wasn't even a big fan of overprocessing my images with Photoshop. I have eventually developed myself to become a purist after exploring some styles and post-processing techniques. I think I was, sort of, influenced by wife 's purist attitude toward her culinary art and science. I am also a history buff as well. By getting back into film, I started to rediscover the long history behind those reknown camera gear manufacturers and their associated iconic photographers. So there, I finally spilled out the reasons why I have picked up the Leica, Contax, Rolleiflex, and so on. OMG, I didn't know what I have missed.

However, the journey doesn't stop here.

Ok, the shot might be a smidge overprocessed - it was quite challenging lighting and I didn't want to miss the moment.

Best viewed large.

Probably overprocessed, I got a little carried away. Decided I like it this way, though.

Under an old dock near Piller Point in San Francisco bay area. amazingly a fisherman walked out on this deck later that evening. I didnt have any of my adobe photo tools with me and only had the photos app on my mac.. I think I overprocessed it a bit.

A "Happy Smile on Saturday" for all of you

and stay healthy.

Another day of shopping - got what I went for but found I still had some "free" time.

Mannequins always seem to be good subjects as they don't mind and don't move while I take their picture. I have found a new App called "Vinci" to play with some of my captures.

Used Vinci - Style: Vendetta filter - all in the iPhone. First for a Painterly effect - then used only a slight slide for HSS in Elements.

so tired. I have been so busy.

No time to get out and shoot lately. So today i give you a shot i did not like but, processed until i didish. Still not happy with it.

For you to enjoy.

I am going to catch up on your streams today or soon. I promise. Unless i get side tracked.

Oooh, look shiny

back on the road today. i'll stop posting these annoying selfies once I can actually get out and use this thing. i'm just enamored of its size-to-output ratio. lovely tonality, ever so slightly gritty – they feel like good scans from my old Contax T2 and are the antithesis of overprocessed, soulless smartphone files.

So I've been doing a TON of spring cleaning while I've had time alone at home (Max is on tour...boo) before Eisley leaves on tour..

All the rigorous cleaning got me thinking about women in the 50's and how they always had to look, act and basically BE perfect because that's how society made them out to think they needed to be a lot of the time.

Our house was built in 1927 but I love the 50's (favorite era as far as fashion and design go) and I'm "old fashioned" and believe there's nothing wrong in the LEAST with being a stay-at-home, full time mom, housewife (hardest job next to coal mining probably! haha) but it doesn't mean you can't be a fun, inspired, passionate and creative person...My mom's the perfect example!

Now I, personally, absolutely love cleaning and organizing my home.

It's my pride and joy. My own personal space that I'm constantly changing as I find new things that inspire me. It brings me such happiness (and since we're not renting it, and it's mind and Max's home, I can do whatever the heck I want, and I do).

The laundry room, however, as you can see is one room that is never clean, but it's a laundry room, so who cares.

All this to say I can't really relate to feeling like the character in these photos, but they were fun to take :)

Also, it is only inspired by the 50's that is why there are iphone's and other items

that aren't vintage :)

Overprocessed version of shell for Sliders Sunday - well, it's a wet miserable Sunday !

Grossly overprocessed front elevation. Just for fun ...

Kodak EXR 5245 50D 17 years old from 2005. Shot at ISO 32 with Voigtland Bessa L and Soligor C/D Wide Auto 28mm f/2.8 lens. Nikon ai on f mount to l39 adapter. This is scale focusing through and adapted lens, but it seems to work fine. Developed in Kodak flexicolor C-41 developer at 30 degrees C for 3:15 minutes. 30 second sodium bisulfate stop bath (because ECN-2 film requires a stop). Remjet removal, then bleach in momma’s copper sulfate bleach (25g copper sulfate to 25g of ammonium chloride in 500ml water) for 5 minutes and fixed in homestyle ammonium thiosulfate for 5 minutes. Scanned on Cannon 9000f and vuescan software.

I realised today that I have my pale pink Cons on, a deep pink hooded jumper and my lovely pink sunnies on. I'm worried about my pink obsession.

Taken with my L4 on my windowsill at work in the streaming afternoon sunshine and processed using Capture NX (getting as much use out of it as I can before the trial runs out) and Gimp. Inspired by a friend's photo (hope you don't mind NT but thanks!). I'm getting better at thinking about and planning my photo a day.

Sliders Sunday -- HSS!

I didn't know a better way to do this.

I am having problems with noise when I view my photos on my tv linked to my laptop at 1080p. Samsung LED.

When I process them on the laptop the noise is controllable and not overly bad, but as soon as I view them on the tv the photos became far too sharp and grainy.

The photos also look also fine when viewed on Ipods at their resolution.

Am I overprocessing which is showing up in 1080p, does my tv need calibrated better, do is it to do with how I am saving them?

I fear anyone looking at my photos in 1080p are thinking what a speckled mess! I don't see it happening when I view other people's images on the TV.

Suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated.

The reservoir water tower, a tad overprocessed.....lol.

To hell with good taste today, I am going to be bold and loud. I don't normally like overprocessing like this but I really like what happened here. Chloe is centre (rotten composition but as she is central to my life that is her rightful place). Please note the little girl opening the curtains at the back of the room to see herself in the mirror aided and abetted by a fellow firefly. Chloe has her dress rehearsal this afternoon. Going to see her tomorrow evening. Too exciting for me I am exhausted already. Thank you for commenting and visiting. If you don't feel like writing a comment why don't you leave a number between 1 - 10 indicating your preference for this?

Combination of two pictures and reworked endlessly for days. I'm trying to create a mood without overprocessing and over coloring. This is extremely difficult for me because I like lots of contrast and too much color. Believe it or not, this is one of the more subdued versions of the image.

A little view over the Spey and Abernethy Forest towards Meall a Bhuachaille and Ryvoan Pass. Sometimes it really does look like this.

Note: the Society for Realism in Photography confirms that no cutting, pasting, cloning or copying was involved in the production of this jpeg. No RAW (NEF) files were harmed (permanently) during the filming or post production.

Almost certainly best if you View On Black

i kinda wish my moustache looked like this all the time!

Experimenting again. I liked the sunlight on the wall .

Pink paeony ICM. No, really. It is (where’s your imagination?) ;)

Well, what do you do when you have loads of these wobbly camera shots? Come to that, what do you do for Sliders Sunday?

I was going to do you a painterly tractor, but it was rather a good tractor (though I say it myself) and I didn’t want to rush it. Also, I feel a bit guilty sometimes posting a painterly rendition to Sliders Sunday because the group is intended to be about overprocessing.

So I was ambling through the back catalogue and found this ICM taken in June which is part of a big collection of failures and not so failures. They’re all so abstract that I hesitate to publish some of them, even in the better ones.

But what happens if you Sliders them? Quite a lot it seems. There were some very interesting results from this one because of the strong sense of movement and depth (it’s a twist ICM of the centre of the flower).

Herewith four variants. The first is a Color Efex smash-up with solarisation and bicolour filters (etc…). The rest are Topaz Studio versions. I avoided painterly versions though there were some good possibilities there too. I like the monochrome version (which I’ll post for my 100x on Motion, as well as the fiery furnace. What about you?

I’ll post a link to the in-camera version so you can admire my dirty sensor. (I have cleaned it now ;) ).

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Sliders Sunday and 100x :)

Cliche for me because I keep going back to the "plaid" feel. But I like the colors and the feel. Hope you have a great day. HSS!

Sometimes I farm pigs, sometimes roll in the hay. And sometimes overprocess pictures. But whatever I do, I'm the best in the radius of 4 villages.

Seen "The Clash" last night. Pretty uninteresting, or maybe I just love the first version too much? My personal highlight was that Whatshisname, Zheksully spends a good part of the movie barefoot, and he has the cutest little feet :)

Christ. When did I become THAT guy???

late autumn young wet rose - overprocessed

that is the original and is not published elsewhere, sorry!

I know, but I'm working on some more vintage editing techniques. What do you guys think of this?!?!?!?

Sincerely,

Trying my hardest to ruin a perfectly average shot.

The days are starting to get longer, so a drive through the park on the way home from work is more inviting.

This capture with an iPhone was originally underexposed, but I liked the composition (YMMV). Started to play with it in Elements - tried a few different things to get to this point.

The very talented Bethany Heart kindly asked for volunteers for her photo project - I jumped at the opportunity to sit for the beautiful Bethy! She has a wonderful eye for detail and the skill to really elevate a photo. To keep the "realism" of SL without making it seem fake or overprocessed. I'm totally WOW'd by her work and very honored I was able to sit for her! I had a lot of fun spending time with her and Miss Lyla! Seems we share a little shopping addiction too! <33

THANK YOU BETHY <333

Slightly overprocessed in-camera HDR. However, I think the overprocessed look is still just about bearable, and I needed the maximum pop for Gurushots.

I started with a photo of the top of the outside aviary pelleted with rain, then over processed to the max!! Happy Slider Sunday!! :=)

An alternative Dorset Coast view tonight - this was taken at Studland and it is for me a slightly overprocessed HDR ;-)!

This is what you do at 3am when you can't sleep.

An experimental HDR taken a couple of months ago at Nostell Priory near Wakefield.

It may be a little overprocessed for the purists but I like it and I hope you do too.
