The Overland Track. Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia

Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park is a large National Park with two distinct points of entry. The northern entry point is Cradle Mountain which is located couple hours from Davenport. The Southern entry point is Lake St. Clair which is a couple of hours from Hobart. The Overland Track is a 6 day hike that allow one to hik from Ronny Creek in the Cradle Mountain part of the Park to Lake St. Clair in the southern part of of the park.

Halfway through day three we came across this map of Australia somebody had put together on the side of the track. Day three is the hardest of the overland track, and this really bought a smile to our faces.

I love the fact they detailed not only Tasmania, but also King & Flinders islands.

We spoke to the others in our hut that night about it - nobody else had seen it. Whoever put this on the trackside, thank you.

The track is so well marked it's almost disappointing... walks are just not as fun without that "I better be careful I don't get lost" feeling. You could probably walk the overland track in the dead of night and still not get lost.
